More views when uploading via phone? (vs. browser)

Hi all,

I'm working on some automation tools and I've noticed that I seem to have significantly better results uploading a video manually from my phone vs. via the browser.

Phone videos average ~2K views, 300 likes

Browser videos average ~300 views, 70 likes

Analytics shows the For You page in both.


Anyone have any ideas what's happening here? I'd prefer to automate browser actions for my tools but I'm starting to wonder if emulation is the best option.

What is your sample size? Can't imagine that it would matter. send me a pm. Your project sounds interesting

Sample size of ~20 videos or so, 10 of each upload method—really does seem to be a consistent pattern.

Interesting question. You write about YT? The similar situation I observe with facebook videos.

Update on this—I still get intermittent shadowbans on videos but it's about 33%–55% so I'm just rolling with it.


If anyone reading this thread later has any ideas on what's still going wrong, I'm all ears.

I'm talking about TikTok—also have a YouTube account, but that's kinda irrelevant to this issue. Would be curious to hear how you saw a related issue with Facebook videos.
