Unable to fetch my sitemap. Says couldn't be read.

There's something wrong with your server. Check the error log. It will give you exactly what os wrong.

I am not technical. How to check error logs? I'll submit this to my hosting provider.

Yupp, ask your hosting provider; or the developer who developed this. If you are using cpanel, the error log could be in the panel as well.

Try re-creating the site map and replacing it. Is the site map at the root of the site?

99.99% times, it is your script which is the culprit. So, they are right about it. I would suggest you to hire someone from here and fix it. Post in the HaF section for that.

Can you access your sitemap from browser.

If you are using any plugin for sitemap. Try to use different one.

403 = Forbidden. Have you verified your sitemap URL is correct? Can you open a new tab and browse to it succesfully? If so it sounds like Googlebot is being denied access to it. Check your robots.txt (http://www.yoururl.com/robots.txt) and let us know what it says.
