Lets say you want to stay awake and focused for 10+ hours

Any experiences with this meds, side effects?

I’ve used modafinil and adrafinil on and off for 5 years. Never had a negative side effect, and if you’re looking for an extra boost it works well with caffeine. Modafinil is getting really hard to get (I haven’t been able to get it in at least a year), but adrafinil is still basically completely unregulated and you can buy it from certain suppliers within the US.

I loved using modafinil. But beware, once I was like ok lemme check some zodiac video liltle quick. Next thing I know - I spent 5 hours watching those videos, and I am not even into horoscope :D
But, its good when you study or have to work :)

I feel like I can really chime in on this as my second post.

Adderal is VERY powerful and is also very addictive.
Depending if you get the instant or extended kind, both usually provide a strong sense of euphoria, making you highly alert and in the zone.
Any task you do do makes you feel extremly good, and completing/getting things done makes you feel even better. This all has to do with the strong dopamine release of adderal.
You wont be hungry at all, you may become very horny, and towards the end you are going to feel like crap.
God forbid you start watching porn, it the focus will go against you and you may find yourself in a 5 hour porn binge of finding "the best video"
Once it wears off you may have to fight the desire to take more because that sense of 'feel good" is now replaced with
a dreaded energy crash. This can make you easily moody, small things will agitate you and you may not seem like you once it wears off. Your sleep quality will also decrease.
You may find yourself slowly taking adderal more and more, tricking your brain into thinking that you need it to get things done.
If you use it, you must be a disciplined person with very good self control. If not, dont even touch it.

Modafinil is by far much much safer. The euphoria doesnt even come close to adderal, in my opinion theres almost none.
Modafinil will kill your apetite but not as bad as adderal. I find myself to be able to eventually eat even during modafinil, small snacks or meals.
The energy it gives you is a nice calm lift, makes you focused and in the zone. Tho for me at times, modafinil can have a relaxing effect, its not like that for everyone.
The best part about modafinil is it kills any desire to sleep for 12 hours. If you are tired you simply cant fall asleep, the feeling of sleep is pretty much eliminated.
And it does not make me jittery. Just dont pair coffee with Modafinil and you are safe.

I have quit using nootropics and even quit caffeine/alcohol.
But if I really had to bang out a project for 10+ hours like my life depended on it, I would personally choose Adderal.
If I had some work to do and im on low sleep, and my life did not depend on it as much, I would choose Modafinil.

To whoever it may concern, i understand the desire to medicate to be able to focus better and work more. I had that desire too. Still have the desire. And I did try some meds but they were giving me massive headaches. I learned then that my problem was not lack of blood flow in the brain but lack of relaxation and balance in my life.

I could probably write a book on how to hack your life. And you may think that my life is perfect or something and I can work 16h/day and stay focused. I don't but I won't go into the details of why.

I will tell you in a bullet point list how to achieve much better focus, mental clarity and improve your overall life and your mind. Don't have the mood to give anything other than brief explanations.

1. Learn Reiki - start with Usui, continue when is OK with Karuna and then Shamballa. All are Reiki systems. Try to find a Reiki Master that is not a complete newbie. Also extremelly important ASK HIM TO WORK ON YOU SAVEERAL SESSIONS BEFORE THE ATTUNEMENT. If you feel absolutelly nothing - no heat, no improvement in your state, no energy flow throughout your body, or you feel unpleasent or a need to block him or protect yourself from him - move on and find another. There are other energy systems out there but Reiki is probably the easyest t start with and use.
2. Practice Reiki a lot for the 1st year. If you can practice maybe 4h/day for first 6mo-1yr would be great. At a minimum you want to practice at least 1h/day every single day. The more you practice the higher your energy levels will increase.
3. Keep doing Reiki as a way of life and try to have at least 1 Reiki session/day though I would recommend 2 sessions/day (morning after you wake up and evening before you go to bed) + short booster sessions (15min) as needed throughout the day.
4. If time allows it and you like this stuff, you can learn other systems too. Whether is Tai-Chi, Chi-Qong or whatever.
5. Aim not for tension and mental agitation but for relaxation, clarity and serenity. Contrary to popular belief, concentration is not an act of stimulation but an act of relaxation and of silencing your thoughts so you can fully focus on one thought/action. Most meds are neural irritators/stimulants. Coffe is an irritator too.
6. Do experiments with food, try to eat what gives you the best state. A good amount of raw food is a good start. I'm not saying to go vegan, just eat a lot of raw foods, veggies and fruits. Also when it comes to meat you might want to reduce pork and such meat and eat more fish. As energy boosters in the morning or when needed you can have coconut or pineapple. Also start your day with a glass of water in which you added half a lemon's juice.

Now you may think Reiki and energy work and all that is bullshit. If you actually practice it for an entire year, daily, at least 1-2h/day and after a year you feel no energy, no effects, no improvement and think you wasted your time, I will accept your opinion that you may think it doesn't work. Otherwise you're basically just an opinionated idiot who never tried the thing but thinks he knows it's bullshit.

If you really want to change your life, you don't want quick fixes like meds. What you want is a better lifestyle.
Also you want to work on discovering and understanding youself at a deeper level. This is really powerful.
Related to knowing yourself is healing your obsession with money and posessions. I am not saying is bad to have money or have things. What i am saying is bad to make that into something bigger than it is and is bad to program your mind that lots of money and a bunch of posessions are a requirement for your happiness. There is a massive difference between living your life frustrated and obsessed that you don't have what you want or enough vs. living your life not needing anything but working out of pleasure and having things despite not needing anything. I can enjoy a Lamborgini just fine while i am in a state of indiference towards whether i own one or not, whereas if i am obsessed and frustrated I don't own one will just push me away from happiness and condition my hapiness.

Have fun!

Why need to rely on drugs to be able to focus? I know some people have conditions and need those things but if your just tryna get ahead, is all that really necessary? I've never taken benzos or any drugs for that matter. I work 15 hours a day and spring out of bed every single morning. Morning wood and everything. Little bit of caffiene here and there a good diet and some excercise. Cliché af but its really true a lot of that shit can be in your head.

I'm personally experimenting with Racetams at the moment: Phenylpiracetam that is invented for Russian astronauts and Coluracetam that is invented for people with Alzheimer's disease, but I can't see a massive improvement, but I'll keep experimenting. I heart good things about Modafinil and I know some people take it with Racetams.

I've spoken to a few people who've tried variations and I've always been tempted but I find it incredibly hard to feel productive when forced to give up coffee. If I had to give up something even more effective I feel like it might be worse.

Semi-related I was in my first country where weed was legal and staying with a few guys who smoked every night. My understanding of weed was always that it made you happy just doing nothing which never appealed to me. True of Indica strains but then came my introduction to Sativa. Closer to a cup of coffee but great for zoning out the world and carrying on with a project in the evening.

It also led to some of my more... creative projects which are currently also some of my best earners.

YouTube decided to throw this one at me yesterday:

Looks like the UK is weird about it. It's legal to buy illegal to sell so the only way to get it would be sketchy websites I've no reason to trust so it doesn't look like I'll be trying it myself.

Whats wrong with you people why take meds healthy... just drink some strong black or turkish coffee 5 times a day, the next day just drive on beer so you detox your kidneys and some home grown weed before you go to sleep...
