How Does Google View/Handle Pagination In Posts

How does Google view and handle pagination in posts, where a single post is broken into several pages using pagebreak plugins?

Particularly pagination that causes the page to refresh(increase in pageviews)

Anyone has an idea?

Most of pagination pages use canonical url meta tag.

So all those pages count as one page.

that's exactly what I want that they count as one page in the sight of Google. A question, say I implement canonical URL meta tag on all of them, does will the content at the very end of the page(the last slide) or anywhere be indexed as part of the entire page?

Thanks for the suggested link, it's now a problem for me absolutely.

I'll either remove all the pagination entirely or have only the first page indexed.

Or you can just a cloaker for google to see the whole content in one page, and let your users see the pagination.

canonical tag...but your pages will get index all like page1, page2....but 1 only will rank.
some fellows put their 2nd, 3rd pages(pagination pages) on Robots.txt, that's not a good practice.
