Trying Polyphasic Sleep and Meditation: The Productivity Journal

i coud not find where to send you a message. but thanks! know any site that has that type of software? ( ill delete the comments)

There's at least one on the BHW marketplace I've seen around but you'd have to dig around I don't know any names of the top of my head I'm afraid. Never tried it so I can't tell you much about it.

Today I fell into the flow of getting through work easier than I ever remember doing so. Considering I'm really feeling the grind of the quarantine today that's extra impressive.

I'm sleeping less, feeling better and my days have more structure. I'm considering going back to the original reduced sleep schedule at one point but for now, this is serving me well. My only real regret is not doing it sooner.

There's not much else I can add here so I'll let this thread die unless anyone has questions.

If there's one thing I'd suggest for improving your productivity it would be mediation. I'm a pretty hardcore atheist and skeptical of the new age spiritual stuff. I don't think it's going to help you see god or reach a higher plane of whatever. I think it helps you notice when your mind is drifting so you can get your ass back to work.

This is worth a watch. The only difference is I use the Headspace app but it sounds much the same.

Ehy man, didn t really understand how your day is structured right now
What optimization have you done ?

I dialed back on the sleep reduction because of the potential health risks so I sleep 11pm-5am with 20 minutes of meditation first thing in the morning. 20-minute nap around the 1pm-2pm point.

Most productive I've felt in a while and that's with the drag from the quarantine.

so 6 h and 20 minutes of sleep
Would be too little for me personally,

I will maybe try and see if the nap and the meditation can really help this much

It'll vary for everyone. It's an interesting topic to read into - some of us just naturally need more sleep but there are things you can try.

The first one was somewhere around 5 hours and that was too little for me. You're supposed to be able to acclimate to that but from what we understand of sleep so far there are health risks and it's not worth it to me for an hour a day. I'm finding the 6-hour core easy now, more often than not I'm waking up before my alarm in the morning.

The coffee nap is great. I'm still to time it properly so I can have a coffee and nap before the caffeine kicks in but I just make one as I wake up and get back to work.

Meditation alone is worth adding to your day. It might be the best thing I've done for my productivity for a long time. No new-age nonsense behind it it's just a way to learn to spot when your focus drifts and the better you get the more you notice your mind wandering and bring it back to whatever you're working on.

Starting to add an afternoon workout back into my day. Lost the drive here since I can't take part in my usual sports but I'll see if I can make that stick. Looking around for something else to try. Maybe start experimenting with nootropics or intermittent fasting properly. If anyone has any suggestions feel free.

Always try to keep the meditation part towards start of the day. Transitioning sleep pattern takes time.

Personally if i don t do intermittent fasting and exercise daily i feel the difference
I don t eat till 12-13 and i exercise before dinner

I suggest you to tri with IF man

I know the difference with exercise it's just hard to care with the quarantine.

I wouldn't have normally ate until 12/13 either - but that was just the default when I wasn't getting out of bed until somewhere between 8-10. It'll take an intentional effort now but if I drink a normal black coffee at 5 when I first get up it might still be easy enough. I'll see, might just result in feeling too tired.

hello op, good luck btw can do heavy meals for this things?

The only changes I made to diet was not eating late before the core sleep. Sleeping with a full belly screws with your sleep quality which I was trying to avoid. Otherwise, I don't see why not.
