Amazon Slashes Commission Rates for Affiliate Program Last Month. Rates are being cut for a number of affiliate product categories. For example, the affiliate cut from purchases of furniture and home improvement products has fallen from 8% to 3%, while the commission rate for grocery products has slid from 5% to 1%.

[Still, I love Amazon affiliate. Why?

My Personal Opinion:

I applied for Target, Walmart, eBay, Wayfair and other big companies for affiliate marketing. I got some approvals and replace the amazon affiliate links. I got almost 500 clicks but no sales.

Conversion Rate of Amazon Affiliate is so nice.

Here is my last 30 days income report of one niche website:

Still Amazon affiliate is great. Just you have to change your ways. What you should do:

1. Must have to choose higher price product, not less than $100
2. Must have to choose the niches which commission is 3% - 10%
3. Target very low competitive keywords which search volume is 50-500 per month
4. No seasonal or trending products

Note: Google loves quality content and content is always King.

In theory it sounds good, but the issue is that affiliate marketers are rarely wizards and with the frequency Amazon is cutting rates nowadays, any niche can be affected from one day to another. They make these changes unilaterally and you can do fuck all about it. A stable money maker can turn into something, which barely makes money. Uncertainty is the issue for the time being or until they still have an affiliate program.

Doable for guys starting out. For an existing site focused on certain niche, it would be better to consider something else.

Amazon will always convert great because people always come back to buy something.

They may have looked at a listing five hours ago then realized they need something so they go back and make a purchase.

Your cookie is still there so you get commission.
