This Google Update is by far the weirdest ever.

Agree.
Unfortunately, for my businesses / customers I NEED traffic from search engines, I can not use any other sources like socials / paid traffic.
Business model requires traffic from that source.
I am not crying, I am only disappointed cause I WILL NEVER KNOW where is my error (if exists), what google likes after the update, how to recover, how to play this game.
Obscurantism, unspoken things, and communications designed to confuse or mislead reality is repulsive.
I completely agree with this statement:
"Having a discussion with them (ex googlers) recently, I think rankings and traffic is OUT of peoples hands now, and there is not much you can do or work on to get back to how things were."
Yup, sad news, but that's all companies that get "too big". Amazon, Apple, Google only to name a few. Scumbags the whole bunch, but I would do the same if I was them. This time they must've gotten millions of new spenders on their ad platform.

1 of my site getting unexpected good amount of traffic the other got kicked from 2nd to 5h page

I wouldn't be surprised if they are doing exactly that - shuffling the SERPs just to make the webmasters switch to paid ads.
Very probable that they are doing thus to earn more money.

Except Google is not "freely destroying businesses and families", you as a business owner is using their FREE service. If that then destroys your business, tough luck. But you're still relying on their platform for all of your clientele, and that's not Google's fault.

That is just a cop-out, of course Google is killing off businesses and using their service is anything but free, you pay with your data, you pay with your privacy and Google is the only real player in town.

So your whole "Google is free" argument is just utter nonsense.

Yeah. But you have to remember almost every site out there is now tracking you. Amazon grew as big as it did due to getting a ton of data, but their services aren't free are they? You leave your privacy and data everywhere across the web.
Your counter argument is more than valid though, and I hate Google too, don't get me wrong. Their entire company wouldn't be there if we didn't make sites, but of course, they don't give a fuck.

I love this forum to bits, but come on guys, it's a blackhat SEO forum.

You can't dabble in the dark arts then get upset when your site doesn't have longevity.

I don't do any BH SEO, I create great content that serves a purpose and helps the reader, and my rankings are absolutely fine. Some have increased significantly.

I don't say that to brag, just to illustrate my point.

It's not 2011 anymore. You actually need to provide value. Shitty affiliate ridden articles just won't cut it anymore.

I'm sure a few people will argue, saying "my site is completely Whitehat. I only have a few WEB 2.0's, some blog comments and a dozen PBN links" :D

Sorry, that sounds like someone tries to look better than everybody else. So fake.

It's when you got hit even with a white hat website that you understand rightly..
However we need to wait, we cannot tell results for the moment, let's wait the end, I'm quite sure most of us will get recovered, it's just a question of time.

I'm sure Google will not let YT, Facebook page etc ranking at the top, they want money yes, but if they want to keep to be the best search engine around there, they need to have a clever one and put at the front real page that answers queries.

Better than everyone else? It's a damn lottery man, your site either gets hit or it doesn't, it's outside of our control.

How can I think I am better at something that I have absolutely no control over?

I was simply trying to illustrate a point: Use blackhat tactics, and you increase your chances of being hurt by an update.

There's no vanity here. I couldn't care less about whether someone decides to go Blackhat, it's up to them, but I'm just stating that you can't blame Google for slamming your ass if you're not playing by the rules. But again, you can be hit if your site is completely "whitehat". It's a shit show, but it's far better to have a strong mindset and accept your fate, than blaming other people (or other companies) for your misfortunes.

Indeed it is! but we are never going to stop.. even tho it's seem that we are building and they destroy so we have to rebuild , rebuild and rebuild.
