Resuscitate a dead account

Hello!
i stopped using my 12k account 5 years ago...
now i restarted using it, in the while i lost 5k followers and now:
- my posts (only carousels atm) get from 700 to 1200 reach and from 30 to 70 likes.
- my stories from 150 impressions (photo) to 250 (15 secs lenght).
I can barely use hashtags cause there aren't so many in niche that can be useful with this small engagement numbers.
I started publishing 1 post/day but i'll increase to 2
I reshare my post and others (in niche) in my stories.
I'm engaging with accounts in niche and restarted engaging with my followers.
I scraped my followers and i'm removing fake/ghost/inactive.
I'm slowly removing all my old content to restart freshyl with a new graphic feed and high quality content (all homemade.. i'm a photographer)

What else can i do to resuscitate it and increase reach to normal numbers?

For any new followers you get, quickly engage with them such as liking a post or 2 from their page and following or leaving a comment.

Because one of their latest actions was following you, your future posts are even more likely to reach them if they engage back. (Over a follower that followed you years ago)

Continue to use hashtags even if they don't rank now, you want to give instagram as much data as you can on the niche your page is in.
This may not have much effect now but it will in the future. (unless adult niche, then i dont recommend hashtags at all)

If you see a question in comment form on a competitor page, answer it with some effort if you can.

Don't expect your account to bounce-back overnight, reviving instagram pages take time. Hope this helps.


Btw I have a question for you, what's your method of removing fake/ghost/inactive followers? I'm looking for a strategy for this currently. Thank you, Cheers!

to find and remove fake, useless, ghost followers you need to:
1) scrape all your followers in detail (total posts, followers, following, bio ecc...)
2) scrape your last 30-40 posts (the more, then better)
3) merge in excel so you can start removing those who have maximum number of following with 0 posts and never engaged with you.

With the data you can easily find those details with some excel formulas.

btw: do you know if there’s a removing daily cap?

I agree, removing ghost followers is super important. You'll want to get your engagement rate as high as you can. Let me know if you need help scraping and finding these ghost followers. Hope things workout!

But i need to put more effort into this reviving thing...
I'm getting something like 2 reach / minute...

Last post (8th) - 500 impressions....
and it's getting worse and worse...

Word of advice, be slow in returning to normal activity. I had an IG account from 2014, which had 450k followers (cars niche). I returned to it in 2019, and I was too fast (posting too much and so on). It has been banned ever since (meaning you cant follow, post, or comment or like)

Actually i'm posting once a day original content, using a wide variety of niche # and just removing inactive/ghost/fake followers.

Well... this is my Reach...

Today i finished archiving all my old content (latest from Q1 2015).
I'm removing "followers" until i get the "couldn't load any user" message.

Reach is dropping to 0 in just 7 days.

Any other suggestion?

I will soon publish my facebook page (already with 2k real engaging followers) and website.
I'll make story ads to engage with my website and another with a CTA graphic to click on profile icon (top-left).
Then i'll start promoting with retargeting with posts.

Other then this i really don't know what to do (if there is anything i can do).
Maybe Tik Tok is a solution...

I would try more with the hashtag research. Even if you said that there aren't more, maybe you find some related hashtags and start using low volume hashtags (under 10k searches, I would go even with under 5k)

i'm actually posting 10-13 very specific # on posts.
I'm trying to use 3 # where i can rank top 9 (with my low numbers) and ~10 # with medium volume and <6 new posts/day.
At this rate i'm able to get 10% reach from #.
Still very very low numbers anyway.
It's something i have to deal with. This account has actually a ridiculous reach by default...

Anyway i noticed to have a "normal" reach on the first hour or couple of hours after posting.
Then, it's something like instagram removes me from any page and the reach suddently stops increasing (for "stops" i mean gaining 1 reach every 5 minutes......)

With the same strategy on a client's account i'm getting 50% reach from home and 50% from hashtags, same niche (not same sub-niche), but the reach to work with is a lot more interesting (1.500 on average).

Oh well well...
after getting into a better period with reach raising up a little (not that much but i was seeing improvements) today i got shadowbanned.
Reason? I really don't know.
The yesterday content got 40% reach from hashtag, today my content wasn't in any hashtag used (from a list of 15, including personal brand hashtag).

this is the reach of past 7 days.

Does it makes sense?
No.

P.S. the only thing i'm doing is story viewing MANUALLY (so no automation at all, i view stories and sometimes interact with good story content with my app-phone).

It's time to switch to Tik Tok guys.
I'm pissed about this.

How did you scrape the fake/ghost/inactive.followers and what have been your criterias for them?

I use a private service to scrape followers.
The criteria is to remove mass following (depends on the profile of course) and profiles with extremely low numbers on followers/following without any post or <5.

When I look at my followers, that does not indicate 100% that the follower is fake or ghosting. When I look at my last posts there are likes from real people who for example follow 3000 people but somehow like me. Or a friend of mine does not have a profile picture but is a real follower.
