How Much Do You Pay For Your Content?

I've currently got a site that has been sitting idle for a couple of years now. Here are the stats:

• 52 articles
• 60,000 Pageviews
• $1500 (average) earnings per month

The problem is, it's in a niche that I have no interest in, so I can't bring myself to write more content (even though almost everything I write and post will bring in decent traffic)

I want to outsource the content, to order the content in bulk, then simply spice it up myself and post it.

I'm just wondering, how much do you guys typically pay for content for your money sites?

Do they typically need editing before you post them?

Any advice would be massively helpful

The majority comes from advertising (Mediavine): $1000

The rest comes from Amazon affiliates, but it's dropped since the commission structure change.

Usually you can get content for a fraction of a cent per word. I've been paying anywhere from $15-20 per article on my site (although my monetization isn't nearly as good as yours). Perhaps writing it yourself has its advantages...

Everything after 2.5 USD per 100 words I guess is fine, assuming the minimum wages in the US, UK, or AUS it is a fair price, of course, you can find also a writer from tier 3 countries but native English speakers for less.

I'm looking at playing a volume game, so i'm just wondering whether it's worth dropping $1000+ on the $1-$2 per 100 word content. Whether that will hold me back from trying to rank it at all.

It's always best for you to not hold all of your eggs in one basket.

Trial out a few different copywriters of varying prices, see which ranks better on your website.

The person buying it matters more than the quality. People will pay 5 times more than other people for exactly the same calibre of content. A lot of people who are shit overcharge too.

Test out a few different writers for one or two articles each if you're planning on doing loads. It's worth it instead of crossing your fingers on a single writer. Pick 3 or 4 you like and let them all know that they're on a short list and the one that can provide the best test article and at the most competitive price will get long term work from you.

Hold whoever you choose to the same standard of content they do for the test. Negotiate their prices down as well. If they say $15 per 1,000 and you like them, tell them you'll hire them at a long term price of $10 if they're interested, then try to come to $12. Only if it's a large volume though otherwise they'll probably tell you to punch it.

For money site content, something like $5/100 words is good enough. Don't cheap out on money site content as that's what users read and not only for google spiders.
