My advice is to move on to another keyword. Look for keywords that don't have thousands of backlinks pointing back to the domain and are not so optimized like the one you gave as an example.

From what you are saying, i must consider the Backlinks quantity of the whole site not just the page backlinks?

Thanks

No, don't do that (at least not based on the BLD numbers). You are most concerned with the BLP (backlinks to page), not the backlinks to the entire site. All those backlinks to the whole domain won't impact (normally) your efforts to outrank that one page that has a good SERP for the keyword phrase you want to dominate.

I do see quite a bit of onpage optimization in the top 10 - all those yellow Ys in the grid. That may make them toughter to beat. I also see that many sites are listed in the DMOZ and Yahoo directories. This may or may not be a problem, depending on the sites themselves. For instance, EZA may be listed in those directories, but that doesn't mean it's not beatable for the keyword you're targetting.

I also see a couple PR 3s, 4s and a 5. They may be tougher to beat as well.

Overall, I wouldn't say this one would be totally easy. It would take some effort due to the PR, the onpage optimization and maybe the directory listings. It's doable though, if you can pull out some good content and get some backlinks with your keyword as the anchor text. And get a domain with the keyword phrase, too, that'd help.

Thanks so much for your reply.

I will consider what you have said :)

And true the pr is high :S
