How do I navigate around this forum ? Let's say I want to post about dropshipping, how do I know the correct place to do so since there are many places where people post about dropshipping ?

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question...
As a newbie starting out how the hell do I choose my niche for my first site? English is my first language and I have no problem writing my own content, but the depth and span of the field has me addled. I'm not sure where to focus, I'm not sure how to research keywords effectively to find a place to start. Writing about what I know about puts me up against massive websites that I don't really have a chance to compete against. I've got time, I've got computer skills, I've got a reasonable amount of money but I'm stuck for direction. I need that first physical step to apply to.
Any tips on how to research topics, niches and keywords or any other pointers would be highly appreciated.
