If I made a page about the 90s and 2000s. sort of like a throwback page where I post celebrities and how they looked 20 years ago, the styles of clothes then, tv shows even maybe. I think I could grow a big following but I'm skeptical if I would be able to make me money as an influencer.

If I speak from the point of view of a viewer then I would totally follow a page like that so this is a very interesting niche to work on. You can also do something like promote the old stuff that some of your audience have and then ask if other people would be interested in buying all that. I would suggest doing a detailed research before working on this.
Wow awesome, I thought it might be a dumb idea at first. But last night I was finding the absolute coolest pictures of celebrities and how young they were and the styles of their clothes! I really am confident about this idea now. Im not sure exactly how Im going to turn it into a business yet because I still have to work on getting the followers and engagement up for at the very least a year or two. Im thinking more of when I get to say 100k followers (if I ever do) and I can apparently get paid $1000 for one promotion post about say a clothing site that sells vintage clothes. Or paid to shout out another page. Or yes I could even sell my own vintage clothes! Im excited.
I know it is going to take a very long time to build a following, but my question is is there a way to maximize how many followers you gain in a day. Does anyone have any experience in this platform. What Im doing as of now- My content in precisely picked and perfect for my niche, and I am going to similar pages to my niche and following all people that comment on their pictures because they are probably the most active and engaged in liking, commenting, and most interested in the niche so they will follow back. Then after a few days I unfollow whoever isn't following me back. I also add a lot of hashtags in the comments under my post.

That is unlikely to happen. I doubt a vintage clothes store is going to pay $1000 for a promotion post.
A jv perhaps, where you can get a % and go wider with partnerships with memorabillia sellers.

I think if you can get high quality content this would work very well. Also maybe get fashion bloggers to promote your page and other authorities in the fashion world. Ofc, youll have to build your account up first before you reach out to them. I for one know a lot of FIDIM students would be interested in following an account like this. There is a huge old school fashion movement in Los Angeles happening right now. You can definitely tap into that.
why not? I see plenty of vintage clothing stores online today. Doesn't have to be stores that sell exactly what your seeing in my posts. Just ones that sell the retro/vintage style. I could even see normal clothing stores being interested in being promoted on an account that big. Maybe not exactly $1000 per post but somewhere around there.

Also through my research on this subject I've found some people that might think Instagram will be the new Facebook and its a dying industry for influencers, whats your stance on this?

They dont have $1000 to spend on a post!
The brands that do, i work with and they sponsor people not collated content.
That is why you are best doing promotional jv's instead and you can start that at around 10,000 followers.
Who do you think would ask me for promotion posts if I got to 100k followers? Just vintage clothing sites? Or do you think it is such a broad account that it could

Being a financially successful influencer is all about influencing your followers to take actionable engagement.
Basically engaging with the post, leaving instagram, going to the store and buying something.
Thats what stores want and that is what they will pay you well for.
If your not able to do that your not an influencer your just somebody that collates pictures on instagram. Which is why 99% fail at being an ig influencer of any significance.
The easiest way for you to get into that is to offer to work with smaller stores in return for a % of sales.

I get what your saying, but at 100k followers your influencing more people (if your engagement stays at atleast 3%). Im confused if your saying I won't work as well because I don't put a face to my page and am just running an account essentially not a personal account, or because of the niche of vintage or throwback that I have picked. Basically since you're saying your in the business, do you think there is great money in my idea with this account, or it is a waste of my time.

My stance as someone who has worked with and ran an influencer platform that sought to raise money is that the entire Influencer economy is dying. Influencer platforms are going out of business and it is harder to raise money for this marketplace. There are too many influencers on IG. Very saturated market place. Especially when there isn't any good way to track roi. That being said, this analysis does not mean that influencer marketing is dead. Influencer marketing is still very effective. One of my clients only uses influencers and makes about 2k a day on clothing drops. To summarize, there are a lot of fake and wanna be influencers out there and very few that actually work. If you are able to find a working influencer, you will get amazing returns for sure!
That is tough, I think 3% follower engagement on a page is one thing because it is easy to get likes and comments and people to show interest. But for someone to get 3% of their followers to actually buy something decently expensive! Consistently. That seems almost impossible to me. While someone with the same 100k followers who is just showing their face can make so much more money.

If you cannot influence people your not an influencer.
If you can sure the % will vary, but it will level off at a rate commensurate with your skills.
Kylie jenner did not become a billionaire because people liked her posts, she made her money because they went out and bought the products she pushed. Same with all the big money making influencers.
As @InstaOmega said people have wised up. So if you cannot deliver you wont make money.
