[Guide] How to use Expired Domains effectively

You can ALWAYS make the old content relevant. In your example I would simply (and have done exactly this) rewrite that page to be about automotive jewellery, that way it is still on topic for the domains linking to it and it is also niche relevant for my transformed money site. I would the create internal links to my money pages from that page to shape the link juice to where it is needed most.

Did I understand your question correctly?

Yeah, that is what I mean, and thanks for clear up.

If you rewrite the old page to match your money site niche, do you rewrite the old page title and meta description? or just simply rewrite page content?
Will changing the old title reduce the links juice power? tbh, am not sure about this.

Thanks again bro

have been using a different method and getting good results. i buy expired domain and create new wordpress site with all new content on domain with new pages (have been ignoring previous link structure). The big difference is i am using all homepage links for outbound after the site is created so i am still getting juice from homepage. What issue do you see with this method and any suggestions you have? Appreciate your input

Just a technical question basically
I asked for the difference between these two:
Code:
Redirect /old /new

Code:
Redirect 301 /old /new

Isn't the same (301 by default)?
Thanks again budd

I have always written it as Redirect 301, but there are a few different approaches, depending on what you need. This article is pretty comprehensive.

https://linchpinseo.com/htaccess-rules/

One question:

Do I need to host the expired domain on a completely different host ? If there are more than 3 ED then I will need more than 3 different hosting account right?

That would be ideal. If that is not practical for you, just make sure they are on different servers on the same host. Big hosts have 100,000's of domains, so it is not beyond the realms of possibility that they are using the same big service provider. Being all on the same domain is a footprint though and could cause issues.

Hey, thanks for the foreign language reply.

I have another question. If all the backlinks are pointed to homepage, is there any point of restoring the old content pages?
Is the site structure important for google to recognize old links?

I always age the expired domain first, so for me it is important. In this case, I would then ditch the old content and build out the new site when some of the old content is beginning to rank again.

Love this guide. Thx dude

Thank you, much appreciated.

Good one mate.keeping rocking

I will be rocking for a long time to come :D

hey, so you don't 301 just the domain to the homepage of money site?
x page to x money page redirection is better?

also, I wanted to ask I have a website where I had done a 301 redirect of a domain and both are in a different niche can I remove the 301 and make a proper pbn out of it? it has been redirecting to one of my sites from 2 months now is it safe to change it now?

also do many posts do you prefer on a pbn? 8-10 links to sites are good? 1 link per domain?

Numbered your questions to make it easier.
  1. 95% of the time I redirect page to page. I find that just 301'ing the whole site to the homepage does not give as good results.
  2. I have done exactly that previously. I am fairly convinced that it has not done quite as well, but it seems to come good after a period of time.
  3. I prefer to use 1 PBN to 1 of my money sites to maximise the boost. I would only use multiple sites if I was selling the links as a PBN service.

Yeah, that is what I mean, and thanks for clear up.

When I build it out, I keep everything the same. When I turn it in to a money site, I rename the pages and change the description when and as needed, so it fits the money site.

It is a different method to what I use, however I did do exactly this for a while, I just found it was not as successful in ranking my money sites. That does not mean that your method is wrong, if you are getting good results stick with it. You might want to try the page redirect method and see if you get improved results like me.

Also, thinking as I type this - I find that Google is more lenient with redirecting multiple domains to a money site if I use the page to page method. This has allowed me to safely point non niche exact matches to money site silos and reap the rewards.

This was the best guideline I've read about the expired domain! Thank you so much! I've been in SEO stuff for a very long time but never used the expired domain neither for my campaigns nor for my money-site.

I was redirected from my post https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/j...-domain-amazon-adsense.1225208/#post-13126806 on building out an auctioned domain

The thing is because it was a music band it doesn't have any content just a homepage with image links to iTunes etc it looks like 99% of the links go to the homepage. once I acquire the site I was going to put it in GWT to make sure there isn't a manual penalty then build the thin site to how it was but then I'm always worried about copyright
I want to build the site into a money site but how to make the most of the homepage links?

Thanks for the amazing guide :)

How about if Expired domain has 1 super niche relevant authoritative backlink, is it still worth it?

IMO it's waste of time to do all this. I purchase expired domain and 301 it to hone page or related post.

Google starts to show the redirect links in my search console in 2 months and I start to see ranking improvements after that.

You are making it complex.

You may saying different thing to his? I mean it seems he talked about expired domain you have to registered. And you're talking about auction / premium domain with existing registration???

Thank you. The whole footprint topic is absolutely correct and it is hard not to get paranoid with it.

Because if you create several gmail accounts and use the same IP to login to each. If any are investigated manually by Google in the future, they could easily trace that you have several accounts and are trying to game them. i.e. you are leaving a footprint. So it is best to use a VPN and other techniques to make each one individual.

Regarding VPNs what do you suggest as a good service to use if you are logging into many gmails?

How do you do page by page redirect?

<> Do you use redirection plugin?
<> Redirect from .htaccess?

Did you do auction for those expired domains? How much is your allotted budget for each domains each month? Or how many domains did you buy in a week?

Thanks

Worth having a go, apart from the cost of buying and hosting the domain, the rest is free. Not a huge amount to lose!

If all the links go to the homepage, just make a basic music site, few pages to round it out. Then let it sit for a week or two, let Google index it naturally, a few weeks later add it to GWC to check for penalties etc. If the site has any authority it should rank some of the easy KW's in the content you have created, then build your money site and off you go.

Thanks for the guide

Useful information

Your welcome.

This is really cool

Thank you.

For 1 link I would not bother, it is not worth the effort or reward.

I simply use Windscribe. I know it is using datacentre proxies, so pretty transparent, but never had an issue.

Check the original post, I explained my reasons on concerns on 301 redirecting pages and showed the code to use.

I do not use auction domains, just ones I find myself. Not easy, but you can find them if you know how and are prepared to put in the effort.

Would it be a bad idea to add it to GWC straight away to check for penalties as that's my main worry with buying this domain

I found a high DR domain that was previously a web design agency. All their authority comes from footer links on sites they have designed. Do you think there's any value on these or is Ahrefs misleading on cases like this?
