So, I just received an infraction for "spam" by answering a question someone asked in an old thread. What the rule actually says, as it was quoted to me in pm :

The following activities on the forum are counted as spam:
  • Posting the same content more than once
  • Making very short or unhelpful replies
  • Posting short "thanks" messages instead of using the thanks button
  • Posting "PM me for details" instead of providing information in the post
  • Posting short, duplicate "welcome" messages in the Introduction forum
What the mod explained was that "You were responding to a guy's question from some 2 years ago."

To be perfectly clear here, I don't mind the warning, it's not like I'm personally offended or anything. However :
  • If it is BHW policy that indeed older threads should not be posted in, that's fine. Ideally though, if that is the idea, please also lock them. Leaving threads open and then warning people for posting in them is literally entrapment.
  • If it is BHW policy to give out spam warnings for posting in old threads, why not add the point in there, because the five point list as it stands right now seems to be pointing in a very different direction, and not really support any kind of possible extension into "oh, and btw, if you post in old threads."
  • In any case, the "BHW as wealth of information" mantra will probably need some adjustment, perhaps more in the vein of "BHW, where threads die quickly, and permanently" or something like that.
Again, I have no investment in this either way, run the forum whichever way just please, for the love of everything that's holy : make clear which way that is.

Peace.

everyone here knows dont bump old threads

ive seen u bumping old threads and pmd you advising not to do it

Well here's why:

- You post in old threads for the sake of what? Like the thread about google+1. SEO changed, nobody ever in the future would benefit from any bump to that (and all the other ones you posted)
- Then you get offended (contrary to what you say) and try to insult people

and now you come crying saying you do not care...sure thing.

Bumped a thread where the topic is about google plus, google plus discontinued there is no point in that thread, to be honest. It is common on all forums to not to bump old threads just common sense. I have nothing against to you just expressing my thoughts

I don’t think it’s wise opening up a public discussion about a member of staff here. Accept the warning and move on.

Remember that the majority of the mods here are working on a voluntary basis and they have no motivation other than to look after the forum and make sure everyone follows the rules.
