i feel as though this is an extremely stupid question, but what are people asking for when they ask “can you write a Forbes article for my blog”....I thought a Forbes article is just an article on the Forbes website? Or do they have some sort of special style I’m missing?

Forbes, Entrepreneur, Business Insider, Huffington Post, etc have basically become household names for businesses. But writing for them is not necessarily easy. So when they say, "can you write a Forbes article for my blog", Its either one of these:
  • Are you enrolled in the Forbes contributor or the Brand Contributor program, and can post an article with a link to my blog. [OR]
  • Can you write an article with the quality or style that's reminiscent to that of Forbes?
I strongly feel its the former they're talking about.

Pretty much what they said above. When people say "...for my blog?" they're talking about gaining a backlink/traffic for their blog.

Ahhhhh this makes sense then....I was thinking people were asking for a certain style in terms of structure etc - like how people ask for ‘Ted Talk’ type videos

Wait you can get guest posts written on a brand as big as Forbes? How the hell does that?

Yes, you can, and Forbes is spammed nowadays with many low quality shit articles. You can get one at Huff as well. I am not sure about business Insider, maybe you can get one there as well.

However, in my opinion the price/value ratio isn't favorable with these websites. Guest posts there are way over-hyped (and overpriced)

Cheers Kinkerinka.

Jeez these companies have got so click dependent they've outsourced articles to writers who promote for pay.

Good for us marketers, but good lord quality of online content is dogshit.

Remember how amazing the internet felt in the 2000s. You couldn't always find much info on obscure niche searches, but what you did find was fascinating.
