NON-US Citizen Registering a .US domain

Hi,

i was searching for a popular site and by accident, i said to myself why not searching if this domain is available on the other TLDs, and surprisingly i found the .us domain name available, i was a bit shocked and that popular site mainly selling physical products, and it's perfect for amazon affiliate site so i thought to make a dropshipping site targeting US resident only and selling those products or maybe flip the domain name!

So can i register this domain even if i'm a NON-US Citizen?

Yes of course u can do it! i own a .us domain on namecheap and i'm not even a US citizen

There are some countries that require that you be a citizen before getting the domain. The us tld can be ordered without any additional proof of citizenship.. I had problems with arab countries asking me to show proof that I live there to register domains, dunno why..

What did you use to register it a VPN, proxy or fake us address?

There are some countries that require that you be a citizen before getting the domain. The us tld can be ordered without any additional proof of citizenship.. I had problems with arab countries asking me to show proof that I live there to register domains, dunno why..

No nothing. Namecheap got my real name , where i'm from and even my id so i guess u are allowed to buy it

I really don't know but u can use the extension Honey maybe u can find a coupon for that but don't forget that after a year u will pay $10

that's what i did in the first place, honey added a coupon, but it didn't work out, so i purchase it for $3.88, but i liked the domain anyway, so no problem, now the job to find a domain auction where i can sell it, lol

No, it's not expired it is an EMD that gets 200K search a month, this EMD from a famous site that selling physical products, my plan thinking to do an amazon affiliate site, and dropshipping products Aliexpress

That's a good idea but are u sure u won't get sued for trademark?

I think the 'problem' is that your whois will show your actual contacts. You can't hide your info. Am I wrong? I want to get one .us domain at the moment too.

You can get an .us domain from Regery without much issues(Basically, most cTLDs), and their prices are much more reasonable compared to idiots like GoDaddy.

They actually offer you to hide them.

u cant hide whois of domains like .us & .in from what i know, better double check if whois is a priority.

i got .us domains too, but i keep them on a separate account to be safe with fake us address infos to avoid whois issues.

Porkbun says that they can't hide whois info for .us domains. You should double check to avoid any problems. But, it shouldn't be an issue if you're just flipping domain without website.

Some countries are strict with their country domains. For example, you can easily get a DA/DR 50+ domain with a clean history for Turkey cTLD. But they ask you for residence proof & trademark registration with same name.

Whois information depends on the registrar you use, some registrars disregard ICANN policies and submit the registration regardless of whether it's verified, and most of the time the cLTDs don't check anything apart from a few countries that requires verification. For complete whois privacy, I'd suggest .de or .at, it's not queryable.

You cannot use a .us domain on namecheap unless you verify that you are a US citizen or a business located in the US
