After 4 attempts and being denied 4 times. My 5th attempt and I finally got approved as a freelancer.

My most important tips:

- Don't use any fake names/numbers. Make sure everything authentic, they do check.

- Use a Professional Email Address. Nothing stupid like.. [email protected]

- Be as unique as possible. Don't just say you can 'write content' or 'Instagram growth guru'

Important: Have a professional Linkedin profile and link it. I had a notification on my Linkedin Page saying it got viewed by an Upwork employee.

Actually I used to register with gmail accounts without a problem. It was several years ago. It's really oddly to refuse acounts like gmail.

Yep and do not forget you have to PAY upwork to bid.. so you will be spending money and getting no jobs!!! as your account is NEW...

Yes, I've purchased a few connect points & will begin to apply for a few jobs now. The connect points aren't too expensive.

Yes the email does need to be professional. You can use gmail as long as it's something like joe******[email protected] It's definitely not cheap to get jobs on upwork anymore. That worked to stop freelancers from using templates to just spam for gigs. Your offer must be personalized and done well with good English to have a chance to get the job.
