Travel website crazyness

Hey guys

Any of you manage a travel website? I do and it's been crazy. Traffic plummeted in early March but seemed to be recovering later in the month. Now it's plummeting again and I'm not sure it's about the virus anymore.

What are your experiences? Maybe I'm missing some good backlinks ?

This is one of my clients' sites (he has several) in the travel/tour niche. He was making ~$2,000 - $6,000 a day before the virus. As you can see below, things we're going good - really, really good. I'd imagine if the virus never started, he'd already have sold his company and gave me $100k.

It’s normal as no one knows if it’s possible to travel this year or not

Definitely Covid related. Travel companies and travel sites have been obliterated. And it will continue to be like that till the end of the year, possibly further. Maybe next summer will the travel traffic kick back in.

All in all, I would not rely on getting any money out of travel niche for a very long time.

Since the virus arrived here, my site is down to zero. Although booking finishes his partner program by the end of april.

Your client was doing amazing but it seems it was all downhill because of the virus. My website has some days where it recovered. Could be people rememissing or Google giving me false hope

Of course it's the cause of the virus. Borders were closed in most places. Travel is forbidden.

May I ask how does he monetize his site?

He's a small, local business getting all of that traffic. Imagine a 1 person company getting 20-40 calls a day, with an average of ~$500 per sale.

Im in different niches, but my traffic has been doing the complete opposite.
