If you want to produce ROI positive content / copy for your business, understanding your audience is inevitable. ✊

And what's the best way to do that? A buyer persona is your answer. ✅

To create a buyer persona, you need to know people's likings, dislikings, dreams, hopes, aspirations, and so forth.

You can create a persona at the MakeMyPersona.com tool by HubSpot. ️

You just need to answer 19 questions to get a visual presentation of your target customer. The final version will give you more insights - likings, dislikings, personal challenges, goals, and so on.

But remember - Make My Persona helps you organize the information to understand the person better. The initial information must be given by you.

That means - you need to first gather insights from your readers. While you can do that 1-on-1, you can also run a survey with Qualaroo.

Creating a persona helps shape your copy to your reader’s exact needs. Remember - we’re stressing on their passions and pain-points here.

Also, a complete persona would make your writing easier to digest and to compel to your readers.

Remember - if you’re targeting everyone, you’ll end up targeting no one. ❌

Thank you for reading. Much love.

I did not understand the benefit of creating the persona.

I did not understand the benefit of creating the persona.
Every industry one way or another makes use of a Persona, be it automobiles, digital application (UX process), even content marketing. Put it simply, if you've seen Ford vs Ferrari, Ford sales start slumping and Lee Iacocca, sales and marketing at Ford, wonderfully played by Jon Bernthal, comes up with an idea for Ford to introduce a car that is worthy of winning Le Mans. But why Le Mans? because winning that would mean opening up the market to 17-year-olds with enough money in their pockets. That's what a Persona does to you. It narrows down your audience and lets you identify which ones to target.
In the case of copywriting, if you have a product that's primarily aimed at senior citizens. You need to identify who are these senior citizens, find out if they are associated with certain demographic groups, what problems are they facing that the government does not address. And how can you help them?. etc. You can't just write a generic sales copy and wish for that funnel to jump to the roof.

Thanks for the share! I have saved the idea for later.

At the digital agency where I used to work we have three different buyer personas.

We also worked with reversed buyer person. Which customers are we trying to avoid? Additional to the buyer person.

This is a great tip for copywriting. He is right!

thanks for sharing this! A whole new concept for me! Especially because coming up with a buyer persona is not easy, but this reversed angle may help to clarify who is the target market

I have created 7 "buyer" or "marketing" personas. It's definitely helpful in framing content.
