Edward Snowden said at the outset of the interview that everyone knew this was coming (scientists, epidemiologists, intelligence agencies).
Whilst they might have envisaged a SARS type outbreak at some point, no one predicted we would have anything like what we have now.

With internet and social media, it's very simple.
The truth is that no one saw a global pandemic of this nature coming. If they claim they predicted it, then they are most likely lying unless it can be substantiated.
In previous cases of outbreak of deadly viruses, we've been able to contain them. The big difference here is that China suppressed the truth for weeks and months about the virus and how easily it was spreading.
