Anyone seen a ranking kick from implementing this? Would a PDF with content in it be as good as a html? Assuming you could make a PDF look way more legit.

it is extremely difficult to say that you will see a direct boost from this. If you want to arrive at the such conclusion, you need to do simple variable testing, meaning not doing anything on your page and only rely on this to see any direct correlation.

I do a lot of single variable testing, but in this case, I am not going to spend time on it. Getting such a backlink is a plus, even only if you see it as another type of backlink in your tier 1 backlinks.

Yeah your right, I think it will add value as the subdomain has a tonne of referring domains so the authority should be there on the subdomain.
