If you are referring to the latest update, what is happening is you are most likely simply being outranked.

You are not being "punished" per se by any penalty or filter. Current algorithm simply thinks websites above you are more worthy results for the query.

Very soon to tell but research on my end so far suggests lack of topical relevancy and incorrect search result type rankings.

True. However, I find this check to be most reliable on live website(s) that has been hosted and properly crawled/indexed for a while.

I saw fluctuations as well.

You mean they are de-indexed completely?

If it is a filter, it might be page oriented, not site wide.

When I check site:mydomain.com I see my posts indexed, but they don't rank for their keywords or are on positions 80-101+ Just a week ago these same posts were ranked in the top 30.

Looks like you have multiple rankings. This is definitely a good sign.

The reason domain name is not #1 is probably because of one of these reasons:

• new website
• contains keyword
• giant authority sites with similar words

I really don't think you have a penalty.

They are just a further confirmation that things are good.

Domain name itself is the main indicator though.
