Finding a solid micro niche

Hey guys, I have been black hatting for awhile and I'm starting to get sick of it.

I would like to gain some decent profit doing it all the right way. (White Hat SEO)

With this recession, there is more competition than ever with this..

Just need some help with finding a decent micro niche to start building a foundation on as my first project.

Think everybody is always looking for a solid niche to start a new project in, and dont think people will give away a niche that they are in or considering to start in.

I would recommend that you think about what you like or what you are good at.
Then try and find niches within those fields.

Just my 2 cents...

Go to Google Trend and see what is new. Even though there is a lot of competition, try to grow from long tailed keywords and work your way up.

I agree that MNF is priceless, but you have to start in the right place.

First, your final niche needs to solve a problem. Start with something broad and common like back pain. From back pain you can find about 100 topics on devices, drugs and books that help alleviate back pain. Let's say we pick devices. Within devices there are actual medical devices and then there are some really hanky, but well promoted items. So called "zero gravity" devices are a huge market full of desperate buyers. So from zero gravity one can find ZG chairs, ZG recliners, etc.

Take ZG recliner/s.

5000+ monthly searches using "exact". Strength of competition...this is best part, only 19,000 sites for exact and only 40,000 on broad. If you're using GAS, the avg CPC is $2.5. So there you go, build a site that you can monetize using GAS and find an affiliate that sells zero gravity recliners...hint, try Amazon.

Just about anyone here would give something to a fellow BH'r. One just has to phrase it right, be sincere and be polite.

I find niches by just typing random words into the Google keyword tool. For example, "prevent" or "great" or "ways", etc, etc. Generic words that will likely make up a larger sentence. This exposes you to a lot of topics or niches that you might never think of by just brainstorming. I do this until a market jumps out at me that I think is probably being under served then I fully research it and decide where my niche is.

I would suggest finding a tool to expedite the discovery of your KWs, but I think understanding your niche comes from that research; so don't just plop some terms into Google Trends and go.

The hardest part for a noob is knowing the searches v pages. I know there is also a lot to do with the quality or authority of the top sites but a guide would be great.

I'm sure everyone has a different criteria?

I guess a rough rule of thumb is 3000 searches a month for a phrase match and less than 50,000 pages in the search results = relatively easy to rank 1st page...

The numbers all depend on what kind of websites are on Google page 1. If there are aged, high PR websites with lots of backlinks, you won't have a chance to outrank them. Even with lower numbers than the one you mentioned.

That is not true my friend. I have a wordpress blog that I use as a website. The competition for the keyword that I am number one on yahoo and number 4 on google is EXREMELY competitive. Every site other than mine has a PR of at least 4, has thousands of back links and the youngest page is 3 years. My site is a little over a year and I have 137 backlinks pointint to the page. Market samurai says that the term gets searched over 9K a day.

According to MS I should be getting around 4K clicks a day for that position but I actually get around 50.

MS is not as reliable as many think. With this particular key word it is WAY off.
