I did send a ticket, the response was fast and friendly. And as expected they did everything possible to solve my problem.

And while it is not completly clear what was causing the speed issues, they seem to have fluctuated and they are working just fine now. So I am just going to blame Coronavirus and keep recommending TheOnionhost with their good prices and fast service.
