Shopify Developer Store Only Processes Test Payments?

So I've been putting in work into my Shopify store through a developer/partner account because I read here that I could essentially use the platform for free until I get 50 sales before getting the paid plan. But upon looking at payment settings I saw that it says "Development stores can only process test payments." Does that mean that I can't have any real transaction through it?

I mean, I enabled Shopify payments but if it can't process real payments then what's the point of 50 test payments... Unless the first 50 payments are real but considered to be tests.

Create a new Shopify account using the 90-day free trial they are offering. You won't be charged until 90 days

Dang, I guess it's true then..
Unless maybe there is some workaround that can link to an external page, but I don't know how that would look to customers.
