I have used the Chinese New Year as my excuse, but it doesn't work anymore, since ... well ... it isn't new year anymore.
How do you guys go about this?

Best thing to do is be honest and state the estimated delivery times. People don't complain when they know what to expect.

That is why you don't see any negative reviews about shipping on Aliexpress listings.

Don't worry, you may use "Virus All Year" as your next delivery excuses - should work all year round...

Just say because of the Covid situation, the borders are on lockdown, since your Warehouse is in China or Italy and that’s it.

While it is true, it's still funny to read "virus all year" hahah it sounds like straight from a comedy movie but matter of fact it is the sad reality

This is legit!

I don't do e-commerce but I read this to on another thread and it sounds like a good one. I can't remember the thread.

1. Be very clear about shipping times on your site and include the info on the checkout page.

2. DO NOT give tracking numbers after Checkout.

3. Most customers will wait the long time for delivery.

4. For the few customers who contact you about waiting a long time, explain the expected delivery time and NOW give them the tracking numbers.

This process allows you to have a positive and informative reply for the customers who complain.

It also gives the customers tracking numbers so they feel like they can be proactive about following your order.

By the time they get the tracking numbers, their order should be processed and on the way so they will be satisfied that their order is on they way.

Again, I dont do e-commerce so take this for what it's worth but it is what I read somewhere here by a person who does do e-commerce.

Also, this tip was for handling long delivery times from China, not crazy long delivery times due to coronavirus. But the idea should still work.

You can't do much about the delivery times but you can seem proactive and professional to ease customer worries and complaints.
