Why can't I directly buy this domain?

Found an expired domain by scraping, whois info shows it's expired on Feb 18th, but why it's still not available for purchase?

I thought after 35 days of expire date, anyone should be able to buy it?

If the domain expired, you can buy it immediately. Apparently, you are not checking properly.

Just a though. It's possible because of the virus that they are giving people longer grace periods when their domains expire. A lot of companies ,banks etc.. are onboard doing deferred stuff like that.

After an domain is expired , it is gone to redemption period and it can stay upto 60-90 days I guess and if the domain owner wants the domain back in this period he can get that but he have to pay high fees. ( For namecheap it's $110 )

If you want the domain then you use a backorder service

There's a grace period when the registrant is still able to renew it at renewal price. Then another period when he can renew it at a much higher price like $80 or something. It's probably also going into auction. So it might take about 2 months for it to completely drop and can be registered by anyone.

but the registar is not those big guys like godaddy or namecheap or namejet, it's a spanish registrar, I emailed them and they said they don't have auctions.

so what option do I have? Only to wait until it drops?

Yes, back order means they will register the domain immediately after it drops. it will record your new registration date.
