Seriously: you ready for Coronavirus?

Yeah.... :(

How stupid the younger versions of ourselves can be

Yeah, but this situation is so abnormal, nobody alive today experienced something as strange as what we see today, the first global epidemic in a long long time, and in our modern societies, we believed that we were immune to that kind of shit...

This is so horrifying and there's no way the situation will get better anytime soon - in fact, its quite the opposite actually. There will probably be millions of deaths within the next few months or maybe weeks. Economies are going to crash and companies like Uber, Lyft, Airbnb or maybe even Amazon, may come to an end. The unemployment rate would rise and some of those who survive this pandemic outbreak would starve to death. I'm not even sure if I'll make it to the year 2021. Even if I do, I'm not sure if it's going to be the world worth living in. Stay safe guys!

I just wanted to share this poem with you guys (I did not write this, it was on a friends fb) for any of you with kids and that are in lock down now or soon will be, this pulled at my heart strings I must admit:

If you're struggling to explain to the little ones , here’s a really cute poem

THE TIME WE SPRING-CLEANED THE WORLD ‍‍‍‍

The world it got so busy,
There were people all around.
They left their germs behind them;
In the air and on the ground.

These germs grew bigger and stronger.
They wanted to come and stay.
They didn’t want to hurt anyone -
They just really wanted to play.

Sometimes they tried to hold your hand,
Or tickled your throat or your nose.
They could make you cough and sneeze
And make your face as red as a rose.

And so these germs took over.
They started to make people ill,
And with every cough we coughed
More and more germs would spill.

All the queens and kings had a meeting.
“It’s time to clean the world up!” they said.
And so they had to close lots of fun stuff,
Just so these germs couldn’t spread.

We couldn’t go to cinemas
Or restaurants for our tea.
There was no football or parties,
The world got as quiet as can be.

The kids stopped going to school,
The mums and dads went to work less.
Then a great, big, giant scrubbing brush
Cleaned the sky and the sea and the mess!

Dads started teaching the sums,
Big brothers played with us more,
Mums were in charge of homework
And we read and played jigsaws galore!

The whole world was washing their hands
And building super toilet roll forts!
Outside was quiet and peaceful,
Now home was the place for all sports.

So we played in the world that was home
And our days filled up with fun and love,
And the germs they grew smaller and smaller
And the sun watched from up above.

Then one morning the sun woke up early,
She smiled and stretched her beams wide.
The world had been fully spring cleaned,
It was time to go back outside!

We opened our doors oh so slowly
And breathed in the clean and fresh air.
We promised that forever and always
Of this beautiful world we’d take care!

Guys don't be so pessimistic, we were not well prepared for this crisis but scientists are doing their best to save us. There are some promising treatments coming, chloroquine and an antiviral among them. Let's hope for the best, we attract what we want the most .
What worries me the most is the economical crisis we'll face right after, and also governments of several countries will take the opportunity to limit our rights, they will track us everywhere under the pretext of keeping us safe, that's the real concern .

If you want to stay updated on this virus, the best ressource I found is the subreddit r/covid19. They are really pragmatic ,they discuss all the current studies, they are not alarmist like the other subreddit. And you learn so many things.

Anyway guys please stay at home, and if you must go out protect your face by wearing a mask and glasses. This DIY mask has saved the army during the h1n1 epidemic :

google "National Guard rolls into New York City with mounted machine guns" and read what comes up. getting interesting

In New Rochelle, N.Y., a suburb of New York City that has been hit hard by the virus, members of the Guard unloaded pancake mix and rice and cleaned public buildings. In West Virginia, they taught emergency workers how to properly use and decontaminate protective equipment.

Costco tells Customers ... Don't Even Think About Returning TP! :D
https://www.tmz.com/2020/03/22/costco-toilet-paper-hoarding-panic-buying-coronavirus/

Costco is unsympathetic to all the folks who stocked up on toilet paper like they were never gonna get another sheet ... because the superstore has made it clear -- NO REFUNDS!!!

This sign was plastered on the wall of the Costco in Pentagon City outside Washington, D.C. Now that people have settled in, it seems they're realizing they have waaaaaay too much toilet paper, hand sanitizer, wipes and Lysol, and apparently some are trying to return it for cash.

You gotta be a little sympathetic ... lots of people got laid off after they hoarded these items, so money is a huge issue.

Also on the no-return list -- Water and Rice.

Yes, but think of the EPIC TP-ing that will occur come Halloween https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toilet_papering

The whole Corona thing turns into a hysteria that will cause more deaths than the virus itself.

In Germany, 60-70 percent of people will become infected over a period of time. But very few will die from it.
Older people and people with primary diseases. have more to worry about. (logically)

If you get sick/infected and get well from the coronavirus, an immunity will develop. And when the whole population has gone through the process of infection, then the virus has no chance to reach the people, because everyone is protected or at least 2/3.

That will be the case in Germany. Because the quarantine won't last forever. It's just a matter of gaining enough time. Not because the virus is dangerous itself, but because we have neglected the health care system in Germany. The danger only leans in the rapid spread

In Germany, 3% of those infected dies, which is still within the normal spectrum.
Italy this is already almost 9%, the big difference is due to the health system and the average age.

And the things you see/hear on TV are not always correct. if not everyone panics, it would be better to concentrate on the really sick people.
Most corona patients do not die because of the virus but with the virus. This is also a difference

And finally, something to think about:
A man comes to the hospital with a broken leg and ends up in the grave with a lung embolism, and that happens more often than you think.

..
I am not a doctor but I work as a nurse in a hospital and most of what I wrote would be confirmed by any virologist

::: I apologize for my English, but I hope I have it right.

No one actually said that. We don't know a lot about the virus as of yet to be sure that this is true

In Germany, 3% of those infected dies, which is still within the normal spectrum

This is what the statistics say SO FAR. And I am not even sure if they are telling the whole truth. There are other countries where the death rate is a LOT higher than that.

Also, we don't even know the long term harm that it may cause to each of the previously infected people...
