Several days ago, my site disappeared from G on some of the most competitive keywords. No major changes were made (expert that I extended site width slightly, but I doubt it's it). No errors were found on the site

My site was ranking #1-#3 on SERPS for disappeared keywords. Since that day, traffic was reduced by 70%. Other less competitive keywords still maintain their strong ranking.

At first, I thought it might be something with the COVID19 (although unrelated to my niche, which is fashion), but the weak assumption was wrong.

No shady methods were used to rank this website, only well-written and carefully optimized content and images. I haven't purchased any links, and there are no manual actions on the webmaster panel. And before you say that I must have did something wrong, is there a website in the world that hasn't?

Is something strange happening to you these days? Or G wants to remind all of us that we're nothing but mere puppets and can control us whatever way it likes? Joking aside, I really hope it's some long dance G wants to play and everything will be back to normal. But it's the seventh day now, and I highly doubt it!

Hi mate,

No need to panic else entire forum will shake upon 1-2 updates..

Take Care,
Commoner

Possibly a google update, build some guest post and pbns and see if you’re getting yiur rankings back if yes everything normal if not do a site audit

Done a complete site audit, everything seems fine. I've even improved some factors like speed, reduced image size, etc... Still nothing.
I doubt that now is a good time for PBNs. It seems unnatural that I haven't received so powerful links even when my site was #1 for a so long time. Should have done it by now. I will probably wait for better times.

I am not panicking, just making a mere observation and asking if anyone else experienced suck significant drops these days.

How old is your website?

Could also be your competition gaining fast.

I was on fashion niche. I am not anymore, because I suffered from exactly this;

major fluctuations

One day I used to see my article on top, the next day I see some mega authority site like an online fashion magazine taking that spot for a broader keyword.

Next day I see some youtube videos jumping on top.

Next day I see my competitors jumping on top because they had so many pictures on those articles, with little to no text.

Etc etc...

I'm afraid it's exactly this that you're suffering from...

If there is a pattern to the types of keywords which you seem to not be rankng for, you should check in analytics to see if the pages on your site which correspond to the keywords are losing organic traffic or not.

In fact, there is. I was offering products on these pages.

Old enough. Here's the rank tracking for one particular high-competitive keyword for a year: https://imgur.com/Ze1SNZD

Like I said, I was not outrun. I disappeared.

Something strange going on, it happened to me as well on the backlinks i've been building. During the day the backlink appears and disappears many time.. and it's always indexed

I had a big drop on one of my sites. I am going to just keep adding articles and ride it out. Google smacked me down once before and it bounced back. My goal is to just keep adding a ton of content.

Ahh, a good ole' Google update. They want you to buy ads. :p
