Coronavirus - Ways to prevent it from laymans perspective

Basic precautions like Clean hands, Showering daily may as well reduce the chances of the Virus being spread

There was a dumbass who was tested positive for the virus and told to self quarantine. He went outside to stand in line to buy a mask and was reported. There are just too many idiots out there.

Tested positive and the hospital let him go without mask or until test results came he was roaming free ??

Where did this happen?

Can't find the link anymore but the guy tested positive and was not given a mask. I think there's a shortage of masks, but I've also heard they don't protect you:

United States
WTF ? The state of Washington declared emergency and reported nine deaths with Kirkland, WA being epicenter. I thought there is no shortage here in US with not many people wearing masks.

On average 3,287 people die each day worldwide in traffic-related accidents (Google it), more than the total number of deaths from coronavirus since December.

The regular influenza (the flu) kills up to 650,000 people worldwide each year. Put things in perspective and avoid the hype.

Is this a troll account? Because this sounds like a copy and paste. The Coronavirus has JUST started. You can't put that in perspective against something NEW and has a mortality rate higher than the spanish flu which killed over 50 million people.

Actually wearing a Mask don't say " really helps " . This virus why so easily get spread is you once got infected , you still don't know will go around doing your usual routines . Is about 14 day to 21 days within these period , than you will noticed suddenly feel sick , flu, hard to breath.

End of the day, just continue your usual routine. If need to buy stuffs which can't order online or need urgent . Just go out buy than straight go back home.

Hopefully, the vaccine is found on time

There's no use hoping for a vaccine. There still isn't a SARS vaccine and it disappeared on its own. I don't even think Ebola had a vaccine. Treating it is the most likely scenario. You've got to keep in mind that the flu kills much more people every year. This will die out, just like the rest of them do.

This virus will be gone by Summer. In the mean time practice basic hygenie and avoid crowded places!

Honestly, the way it's going now - looks like the whole world may eventually get affected, according to statistics one person infects 3 other, so quarantine measures are failing. But if you are not too old and sick - you'll survive it.

I think It will likely spread everywhere in the world like the flu. It will exist permanently from now on and become seasonal. It's deadly to a small minority of people, that's down to luck.

LOL at the vegan holistic nutritional BS. Foods for healthy lungs, just lol.

It's down to genetic makeup and interaction between countless unknown biological factors in your body.

And many people say a 'strong immune system' (whatever that means) helps. But remember that in the 1918 flu pandemic the healthiest people with the 'strongest' immune systems had the highest mortality rate, because of a phenomenon called cytokine storm. Old and sick people survived, young and healthy died.

A previous infection you've had years ago and weren't aware of could have left antibodies in your blood that actually help the coronavirus get into cells when it sticks to the virus the wrong way around. Another one can grant you immunity. Luck.

Stick to commonly accepted hygiene habits, take basic measures and move on with your life, nothing else you can do.

I am in Vietnam and it is located next to China but my country has very good disease control: D

It's clearly different now, old people die of coronavirus and young and healthy recover.

Yes, seems like it. Hopefully it will stay that way. I was just saying that things are much more nuanced and the unknown factors are many.

That's scary..

That's bad. No other virus takes so long to identify.
