Honestly, people will say all sorts of things. Get up at x, drink X, do X but at the end of the day you should do what works best for you. Try some things out and see what works.
I'm not disciplined on working hours at all and often wake up and lie in bed for hours but I work later so still get a good amount of work done. To others this looks bad for productivity but it works well for me and I can still get a lot of work done. It doesn't work for everyone, hence my comment about doing what works best for you. I'm not a morning person so it's pointless for me to wake up at 5 am like other people do because this doesnt work for me.
That been said here are a few things that help me productivity wise:
- Drink water - this is pretty much all I drink all day.
- Good amount of sleep 7-9 hours before 12 AM - everyone has different amount of sleep required. Whatever works best for you. Some need 7 hours other 9.
- To do list day before - I use the app to do ist. Beginning of the week I hit down items on piece of paper what I'd like to achieve. I'll then break that down to 3-4 task per day. Don't try craming in lots of task per day, it looks and feels overwhelming. If you finish your 3-4 items in half a day great! Take the rest of the day off and enjoy yourself or you can do more task if you like.
- Breaking down big projects - links to above point. Big projects look scary. Break them down into components then break those down into individual task. Baby step, it's all about laying a foundation and building up. This helps big projects look much more manageable, over time you'll see everything slot into place.
- Exercise
- Relax - read, watch TV, socialise etc. Time off is important.
- Focus on mental health - very important, stress is a killer (literally).
