My goal is to start contacting blogs in my niche and offering an affiliate program to them. I can see they already use several of my competitors affiliate links. So I know they probably would be interested.

My question is, what is an attractive affiliate offer for them? 10% for a sale, more?

Similarly I notice even huge sites like cosmopolitan are using affiliate links to my competitors ecom site. What kind of % do you think they get?

There two things. Affiliate commission and conversion on your site.

If you want to attract bloggers, you need to pay same or more than your competitor. And that traffic should convert for blogger.

Blogger should make more than currently he is making.

I would focus on giving a payout in $ rather than % so your potential clients do not know the real value of your product. Everything on the market can more or less be replicated, so there's that.
At the same time, you really need to do more research on your competition to find out what the market you're targeting looks like. If your offer is not competitive for the blogs, then they won't bite. Try to contact the networks they're already working with and ask for deals, maybe mention you have a blog yourself with stats similar to the ones you're looking to approach. See what information they provide you, go from there.

Thanks for the feedback, I've done some more research and see some competitors are using networks like pepperjam so I can see what they are offering, very helpful.

Now I guess my final question is, do bloggers usually only work with you if your on a big network like CJ/pepperjam, would they even consider you if you offered them an in house affiliate.

It depends on the blog owner, but I'm guessing you have to put yourself in their shoes a bit to understand the situation. Remember that if you don't have a reputation on the market or a recognizable brand name/old domain name etc etc then essentially what you're asking for is free traffic for your offers without being able to guarantee the publisher any conversions. At least, that's how I see it (not that the other networks are not asking the same, except they have a rep). If I own a blog with traffic that already converts for a few networks and another affiliate network offers me something, it would have to be a pretty sweet deal for me to start sending traffic/promote their offers and disrupt my usual trafficflow. Maybe some blogs are filling caps and monetizing their whole inventory of visits, which means that no click goes unmonetized. Sending traffic to a new source could jeopardize their income so you have to be smart about the way you market yourself. Some might be open-minded to just giving it a shot. Remember to also be slightly persistent, but professional. Ping them at least 3 times over the course of 1 month.

The way I would approach this is to be honest at least in the upfront presentation, that you're a new Affplatform and as such, you're offering some really cool deals for the first 50, 100 signups beginning with the date of X of the month up until Yth.

maxbounty i fully advise as a proper afflicate that pays .

if games
ogads is ok .

if digital
clickbank

There a way to cheat pick a niche you like then find others offering afflicate deal just copy others do.
