Hi, there! I apologize in advance if I made a mistake in forum section. I’m newbiee here and so please do not judge me me strictly.

My issue has happened at the end of last week. From last sunday to monday my Ahrefs rank dropped 1.7 million (from 4 million to 5.7 million). I began to figure it out what was the cause of what happened. Ahrefs didn’t show any lost, broken links, e.t.c. I manually checked all the main most significant sites donors. I thought maybe some restrictions were applied to them, but I could not find any of the above.

Then I thought that all this could be related to some of the latest Google updates. I decided to watch for some time and I noticed that most likely the problem is not in donors, links, etc. Most likely the problem is really in one of the latest updates, since positions of product cards have dropped very slightly, but impressions have dropped almost twice. Last month, I actively tried to increase power of my backlink profile and everything went well until that moment ... positions grew, impressions increased. I'm trying to figure out the situation with all the slam and hope that someone can help me with this.

I have a number of questions:
  1. I don’t know whether this can be connected or not with the various comments that I purchased or PBN posts? I correctly believe that in this case my positions and impressions drop practically to 0?
  2. If this is really connected with google update, then where can I find the latest information on what needs to be fixed? like SEO tittles, SEO texts e.t.c
  3. Could this happened due to the fact that Google is trying to optimize their new changes in the work of their search instruments and subsequently everything will normalize by itself
  4. Should I continue to buy links or should I wait for a short pause?
I will be glad to any of your assistance in solving this issue. Thank you all in advance!

Did you lose impressions and keywords ranking or just impressions and your keywords are still ranking high?

In fact, keywords also have dropped, especially sections. Service cards for which I bought backlinks suffered less.

I bought one high-quality content backlink per section and Ahrefs rank went up 800k, but despite the increase in backlinks, my traffic is gradually dropping like ahrefs rank. Before that I could only observe an increase in all possible indicators (Ahrefs rank, traffic, impressions, positions e.t.c.)

My guess is as good as yours, it could be a number of things. but I'd start with looking at the anchor text, if you overoptimized it you need to dilute it, either create more links with generic anchor or edit the existing ones if you can. If that's not the case look at your on-page SEO like keyword density and placement. Or it could be the PBN posts if it's the PBNs your ranking and impressions don't have to necessarily drop to zero. Google might have devalued them. Look where your impressions and ranking were before you bought the PBNs and if the drop somehow correlates (dates) with the drop.
I don't think that it's related to a regular google update, from what I've read it appears that they have an active algo preventing people from over-optimizing their website and ranking high.
Google has become very secretive about their updates and I don't think you can find anywhere what exactly needs to fixed. You need to experiment and track how google reacts to the changes. If you see an improvement that should tell you something, if it doesn't work you can always rever back. Just don't make too many changes at once because that will confuse you and makes hard to figure out what works and what doesn't.

I think you may be right about the anchor text because I really have too many anchor links. It happened after I saw in google web master tools around 40-50 new domains (I bought package of web 2.0 no-follow comments). Therefore, there must be a valid reason either in the overabundance of anchor text or I got a filter due to the fact that I bought a low-quality PBN's, but here it’s unlikely because content links seems to have not yet been displayed. I'll probably start with your first guess and try to fix anchors.
What should be the normal ratio of anchor / no anchor backlinks? I don't think that I have an opportunity to edit them. What can you advise me to dilute them?

It is also worth noting that I bought comments on my two web sites and after I got them only one of sites has been damaged (just one on which there was an excess of anchors). In the case of buying bad PBN, both sites should suffer?
