fan art is a grey zone. it's still copyright infringement. etsy does not "care" if you upload that and make money from it. if you get bigger sales other etsy users will report you for infringement. it's not so bad UNTIL you get sued by the company you are referring your designs to.

other question, why would you use shopfiy when etsy drives almost all of the traffic itself?

I agree. We should stay away from marvel, star wars and these companies.If other users reported you they will delete the listing only and it usually doesn't affect your account. About shopify, It's better for royalties and it's kinda building a brand.

I took a look and I don't think this seller is actually breaking any laws or copyrights, because his artwork/quotes are so vague and generic.
One could very easily use the quote he used outside the context of the movie.
