How to switch Domain names and keep Link juice

I'm completely new to this.

I just purchased a new expired domain and wish to use it to replace my old domain.

I have some content on my old website and my old domain has content that is currently ranking and getting me a little bit of daily traffic.

How would I replace my old domain in Cpanel with my new domain that I just purchased while making sure that I still keep all of my daily traffic levels?

I didn't see an option in Cpanel to change primary domains.

Also is it right to assume that my old domain will be kept as an addon domain from now on so as to keep all the keywords that I am ranking and link juice?

What hosting company are you with? Just ask technical support to do it for you.

Just got a reply back from my host. They are like "You can attach the addon domain and set the redirect right from cPanel."

Shit, I messed up pretty badly both of my sites now. Upon trying to move the contents of my first site to my second using a plugin, I found out the plugin doesn't work and hung at 100% and then find lots of people having this issue. I also did the permanent redirect from cpanel and now it messed everything up. After manually uploading the old website to my new website's wordpress install, I can't access the admin url of the new domain in wordpress. It just keeps getting redirected to my old domain's admin url or the old url.

Please help. What am I supposed to do in this situation?

Check htccs file via ftp first.

Use backup.

Change paths in database also by ftp.

Yeah I eventually got it to work by doing a 301 permanent redirect from my name register. However now I have another problem whereby any search results on google using my old domain name yields a "your site can't be reached" error message. I thought all of this was supposed to be redirected to my new domain.
