I'm building links and getting an increased UR, but DR is stagnant for a while. Is this because all links are going to a single page and I need to send more links to a wider variety of pages?

You need to wait and get more backlinks from high DR sites. Easy :)

Creating quality backlink only will not work. You have to maintain your on-page SEO techniques properly as per the latest SEO trends. Check the followings first :

  • Write Quality Content and optimize as per SEO trends.
  • Improve your link structure.
  • Remove Bad and Toxic Links.
  • Keep your website Mobile-friendly
  • Increase page-load speed.
  • Promote your content in different social media.

After completing this, you have to think about your backlinks. Don’t create irrelevant backlink. Try to avoid creating your links from low-quality sites. The quality backlink will give you an extra boost.

How do you calculate Domain Rating?
To put things simply, we calculate the DR of a given website the following way:

  1. Look at how many unique domains have at least 1 ******** link to the target website;
  2. Take into account the DR values of those linking domains;
  3. Take into account how many unique domains each of those websites link to;
  4. Apply some math and coding magic to calculate “raw” DR scores;
  5. Plot these scores on a 0–100 scale (which is dynamic in nature and will “stretch” over time).

DR is purely based on backlinks.

- Write informative content for your users attractable.
- Improve Internal linking.
- make your website suitable for mobile users.
- Post your articles in high authority blogs.

Thanks all, but the question I'm posing is less about how to generally rank content, and more about the explicit reason that Ahref's DR ranking increases.

It's obviously related to backlinks alone, as Ahrefs doesn't monitor on-page metrics etc, but I'm trying to distinguish the difference between backlinking activities that will increase UR and those that will increase DR.

Seriously, why bother answering, if you are just going to spout super high level points which have nothing to do with the question :suspicious:

@VSYNC - You need links from other high DR/UR sites. Plain and simple. Your DR will not increase proportionately to your UR if you are sending links to your inner pages, if you want to increase your DR, you need to link to your domain root.

There are methods to increase your Ahrefs DR and UR, you just need to think outside of the box. And before anyone asks why you would want to do this as it has no direct effect on your rankings, perhaps you want to sell guest posts on fiverr...

The simplest answer is to add about 100 or more contextual backlinks that have high DR, as that will add to the quality of referred domains linking to the site. The higher the number of quality RDs associated with the domain, the higher the quality of the site for DR.

@fasttrak thanks for a thought out and informative answer bro

Yes it's possible, As I can't reveal it completely here, I could say just make sure get high (depends on how much you want to increase) DR ahrefs indexable links to your domain. That's should help.

DR means nothing to Google. No need to focus your efforts on it. Instead focus on tangible metrics like actual traffic, CTR, etc.

But if you are trying to increase DR for guest posting, etc you need to look at factors like OBL of sites linking to you. Link farms will provide little boost to your DR whereas a lower rating site with a lower OBL will give a better boost.

So if I link to inner pages, my DR won’t increase? Only if I send the back links to the root domain?

It will increase, but not proportionately to the inner pages UR. So, if you are looking to increase your DR as quickly as possible, send links to the domain root.

Yes you need to give links to different pages to increase DR.

Yah it's true but you should follow the other rules which I have mentioned. You can search in google for a better answer.

What, you mean the pointless post where you copied a Quora answer which had nothing to do with OP's question, passing it off as yours, just so you could

a) sound good about something you clearly have no knowledge of
b) are trying to inflate your post count :suspicious:

Oh yeah, we should all listen to you, as you say Google has all the answers, how helpful.
