Hello,

My company recently invested in a very strong domain name (for which they paid $40K to acquire) and turned it into an full-on eCommerce website in the Fashion/Beauty/Lifestyle market. It has been running for over three years with excellent ranking and sales, but things slowed down a little (not significantly) this past year, and so they have decided they do not wish to continue.

The site's rank is currently at 140,000 globally, and is among the top 2000 most visited in a very popular, very rich, Middle Eastern Country.

There is no way I can convince them to resume e-commerce as their decision to halt is final. But They have offered the domain to me at no cost, to do with it as I see fit.

They will not invest in it any more and I still have over two years of free hosting on it. Is there any way I can turn it into a money-making website? Products? Product-reviews/affiliate? Etc? Would greatly appreciate any advice.

I am personally willing to invest (some money and time) in it, so I could use all the help I can get here. Would also greatly appreciate it if you are able to mention the potential growth or expected profit percentage (if any) that the website may likely make from your suggestion.

A million thanks!

Hi mate,

You may do a JV with experienced marketers.

Be sure to make it an eComm with huge potential and not bh methods.

Wow very lucky! I say just sell it if you can’t think of something. Easy $40k

Other than that I suggest just going for an ecom shop on a much smaller scale as it only benefits the pockets of a very small team at that point.

You would need to find out how to source the same products they have and be able to drop ship those products or you could do a 301 redirect to a new store you create with similar products. Me personally I would keep the website the same and just change out products that I am able to drop ship on it. Those are a few options.

I agree what might not be profitable for them, may well be for you.

Can you not clone their site and keep it running as has been said just change out products to those you can source?

Thank you, all. Highly appreciate the tips. Not sure how to put this delicately, but I am no IM pro. I am very good with SM, particularly Instagram as I've had some incredible success there. But not in the field of websites (or making money from websites). I understand I may need to invest in some serious self-improvement and research before anything. So far, I think drop shipping seems like a more feasible option. Thanks again, really appreciate the help, fam!

So now is you wanna continue and selling the products yourself?

that domain name been offer 40k is go to individual that site owner or from the host side?

just curious how much your hosting , etc cost since you mention is a big site.

You have enough posts / time on here and this is a time sensitive project.

So as has been said post a jv and get help :)

I run multiple SaaS startups in eCommerce sales & AOV enablement niche and have access to millions of transaction and behavioural data. From 5 years of experience in eCommerce as a product manager, I can tell, consumers love Discounts, Coupons or any Gamified option that triggers their impulse buying habit ("easy dopamine" in plain words).
If you have a really brandble domain used previously in popular ecommerce store, turn it into a coupon site or a deal hunter plugin like Honey or may be use an exclusive deal model like Ventee Privee or TJMax. So many possibilities ;)
I am open to hear more about your niche, domain and demography. PM me.

Hi mate,

I forgot to add in previous post, before doing a JV, make sure you extended the Domain lifespan (Age) and point to a powerful web-host (preferably a VPS).
