Which is better SEO strategy for blogs in 2020?

Post tons of content on low comp KW and then pray or post fewer articles but super high quality and promote + build backlinks?

I am working on a new blog right now and I combine both methods that you described. I aim for the low comp keywords first as I start from scratch and my website doesn't any authority. This way I will start getting traffic faster. And of course build the backlinks ones I get the first batch of content. I personally think that Income School approach is aimed for the newbies that get overwhelmed by the idea of SEO. So they excluded that part to stand out on the market and attract certain audience.

You'd want to rank high volume keywords just like Backlinko, right? There's no doubt it's a great strategy, but I mean, you could put a gun to my head and I wouldn't be able to produce such quality content as he does it.
Even if he doesn't write the articles himself, it would cost a shitload of money to write each article. Also, if you're nobody, your article won't be seen by people. Marketing is also very important to get the people talking.

That is actually the best approach start from the low competition ones and then build up!

I recently changed my strategy to start focusing on low competition KWs, but still haven't seen much in terms of ranking on Google. I suppose if you produce 100s of them, some will hit the spot.

All you need is long articles explaining and solving the problem or providing information. Plus few links to that page, avoid main anchors.

That really depends on your skillset and money you are willing to invest.

If you are a beginner, don't have money to invest and good offpage SEO knowledge, than it's better to go with the first approach.

On the other hand if you have some good SEO, copyrighting and general marketing/ promo knowledge and/ or money to invest, it's much better to go with the second approach,

but then again, if you have all that, you probably wouldn't even ask a question like that.
