Hey,

Since content is king. If there was one kind of content you had to choose, which ONE would you pick VIDEO (YT) or ARTICLES (Blog)? Why?

Depends on what it is about i think
You can still write article and put a link to your video in it

I would do both.

They can´t be mutually exclusive.

But I agree with @Beldo, it depends on the type of content you´re promoting.

Why?

Because some type of content works best on video.

Examples?

Cooking comes to mind.

Have you tried following a recipe by reading about a blog post? It´s very difficult and annoying. But following while watching a guy cooking the recipe? It´s just freaking awesome!

Unless your content is special, I would use both.

Cool guys!

Thanks for your answers. But, let's just say this is about a guy :'( who would only start focusing on just one type of content. That would be perhaps because he does not have the resources (time and money) to work on the two types of content.

Let's also say the guy will be working on a topic in which any content (video or article) would be interesting enough to keep the audience interested.

Why not just try the video content and eventually attach a blog to it? That's what I would do at least. It seems a bit dry to start with articles compared to video. You can establish a connection between you and your audience, answer their comments etc. and then eventually start a blog where you summarize each video and link to it. Some people just like to read articles with pictures in it while others will never check but that's also ok, they watched your video. This is sort of starting with the more engaging thing and then attaching the less engaging thing to it.

In the end it depends on your skill set. Do you feel like you could create an article that is engaging, well-structured, really speaks to your audience and has interesting pictures in it? Or it is more natural for you to shoot a video where you need to keep up the positive vibes, put your personality into it and edit it in a way that holds the viewer's attention? These are the questions everyone should ask themselves and then include the type of content it is going to be about into the equation. Do people usually like to read about this stuff or watch a video about it? If both, then it really depends on the content creator which one to choose

Thanks man. Here l can spot two elements l believe are important from your interesting reply.
1. What kind of content is my audience more responsive to?
2. What's my skill set regarding the kind of content l will come up with?

Cool!

Creating your own content with both articles and videos would be preferable. But video is more engagable, which can help improve the user experience or increase the dwell time visitors spend on your site page. A simple solution is to concentrate on writing unique content that is relevant to the niche, but add a miscellaneous embedded youtube video that is closely related to the page.

Perhaps look for the video first, find something close enough, then write your more precise article to appear with the embedded video. So you end up using both kinds of content, with better UX, without doing double labor.
