I want to buy a domain and from namecheap for 8.88$, I got the domain name with 9 words.


However, from MOZ it shows, even without a site the domain has A PA and DA;

The back links profile has low DA backlinks


SPAM score shows as :--(no value)

My question is without a site, how can this be possible ?

Is this a good domain to buy?

Checking these metrics with Moz has little value in my opinion, as they update their index very rarely. So that spam score or other metrics could be very inaccurate.

It is an expired domain. That means a website was made earlier on this domain. But later the domain got expired.

In fact, the big issue with Moz is that they seriously disregard the nofollow links. You can compare two very similar linking profiles from Moz and Majestic and see that Moz can be offering a fairly high DA (20-40) while Majestic just offers a plain useless TF (0-5). Although higher TF don't mind that the site is good, and sometimes this situation is reversed (higher TF can just mean a 1 ******** link from a homepage with also high TF, with a low amount of other less authoritative sites, that seem to reduce the TF).

So generally Majestic reward lesser but better links while Moz just rewards quantity in their metrics. It's easy to see a 10 RD 30 TF site while it is really difficult to find a 10RD 30 DA.

This is why most people around the forum, suggest that good value sites are the ones with >100RD >20TF, because TF is seriously affected by the number of links, therefore, if they can preserve it beyond the amount, it will be more appreciated.
From my point of view, this is a good perspective to filter out.

When it comes down to evaluate a domain, checking metrics from a tool can be a little misleading, as you said. For me there is no shortcut (especially if you want to buy that domain or checking it for link building): a manual review of (at least) basic link profile metrics is mandatory.

Of course what a "good domain" is, is completely subjective.
