Buddy, I'd like to honest with you, the main thing that I know right now - all things are going as they must, so maybe, that girl isn't you "destiny"? I perfectly understand that she is means a lot to you, but she has chosen another guy. Maybe, it was a sign? I mean, that it wasn't "your" girl. I had similar case in the past, but right know 11 years after that event it was best thing what happened to my.
Right know you have time to think yourself, what you want - what you need. You will grow stronger when you think the feelings through and then you find the something in your mind.
It's hard to explain, but you will get it for some point..
some dudes and girls don't find it and they kill themselves or find themselves depressed.... but but every heart piece you give to someone, it always stays with you in some form.
