Choosing a different tld than a .com?

Hello fellow BHers!

So I was thinking a choosing a .tech domain or some other tld even just to avoid going through hours of pain in searching and sorting all the 3+word dotcoms but any thoughts on that?

I even looked if there were other quality sites in .tech but couldn't find any, all of big G results only return .coms, .nets. .orgs or some other better known TLDs...

I'm gonna try firing up scrapebox to see if I can find any other site in .tech.

Using a .TECH myself after I heard about it on Syntax (Wes Bos). He built a pretty dope website on uses dot tech. Seen a few big guys use it like CES, Viacom and Austin Evans as well. I like it because its relevant but broad enough and understandable unlike ai, dev, io. COM is always king but availability is shocking.

Tech is a gTLD just like Com/Net. So it shouldn't be a SEO issue, AFAIK. Don't pick a ccTLD though - google usually optimize them for country.

The domain extension doesn't really matter for seo for the most part. Users aren't really used to anything other than coms, orgs and nets, so I'd focus more on usability than seo.

I personally always go with a .com for new projects. With a little bit of creativity you can still get decent .coms for les than $10.

Yeah I just saw afterwards that some big companies had been chipping in to open this tld... so I just went with it!

I also think that the domain ending does not matter for your ranking. .tech is a cool domain ;-)

In theory it shouldn't affect your SEO if u have .tech instead of .com.
But you will get more eyeballs with a .com instead of a .tech , not because of SEO but because 99% of people are so used to .com that they unconscious avoid .tech.
