Skype isnt a bit "Tacky" ?

Hello guys, i would like to know why everyone keep using Skype in 2020. I mean discord is 50 times better on every points, you can even host your own business on your discord. It does everything better than skype and you can do more thing on it than skype so what the point of being stuck in the 1990' ?

I hope the only good reason isnt : "Coz everybody use it"

Coz if you guys really thing that, we gonna use flying car in 2100 and you will still be using skype LOL.

Someone have to change this trend, it's a shame for the high internet society like you to use such a dinosaur.



What do you think about ? Is skype will be forever in the place ? Is skype could improve their own services (like something more 2020) ? Is this trend have to change ?

I agree Skype is too buggy but what more can you do when it is owned by Microsoft

Slack and discord are way better!

Don't see the need of it anymore, but i don't really use instant messaging tools. It's one thing, that it's tacky (taste is subjective though), but it's buggy and laggy too, which is a lot bigger issue. It was always crap.

Some sellers on this site still use it and it is literally the only time I ever use it. Back in the early days of internet video calling, it was amazing, but now it does nothing that other services don't already do better. The clunky ass Microsoft based login is enough to annoy me every time

I use it just because of popularity, but the same as Yahoo Messenger will die one day.

Skype was perfect back in 2016-2017, it's just gone downhill since then.
I just use it cause its what almost everyone is still using it, can't wait for it to die and something better to take its place.
I see most people are coming to telegram but I don't feel I have a good way to keeping track of hundreds of contacts with it like I used to with Skype in the past.

As someone working online I need reliable messenger to contact my partners, colleagues and freelancers. Is Skype ideal? Nope. Sadly there are very few other options that are widely used, and among them Skype is far from the worse option.

I'm dont know if "disturbed" is the good word but being force to use skype coz everyone is using it (90% at least) is a bit boring

Discord is much better, yes.

The first time I downloaded Skype was beginning of 2004 and I was like "wtf I can chat and call with my friends for free if they have this program?"

What I want to say is: This software has come a very very VERY long way. The guys making Skype really did something great.. Comparing Skype to Discord would just be so wrong. Its like comparing a nice solid V2 rocket with a Predator Drone.

Its also amazing how many dead accounts I got on my Skype. Literally hundreds of accounts I added back in 2008-2012 and people not log in anymore

Skype was awesome when it was App based ie skype 7 or classic. But since they changed it to cloud based, it's a a mess now. I am forced to use it as others are using it. However there is no other option as well.

Skype app had a great feature where one can organize his contacts into a lists. That was awesome for people like me who sells lots of services. since they stopped Skype classic, they removed that feature and it hangs a lot now and have very less features.

Infact, right now because of loss of that feature, I am forced to make a excel sheet to organize my contacts. It's take hell lot of time. Presently, I am working on the list itself. Wasting lots of precious time but have no choice as Skype morons are excellent in removing features people love.

Discord reminds me of chat rooms from 90s.
I use Skype & Slack for work, and I can't say I like Skype, but it's okay.
