Homepage not showing in SERPs

Noobish question (probably has been asked millions of times before). I did some browsing on some main keywords for our website and I was only able to find product/service pages in Google SERPs i.e. https://mywebsite.tld/product1 or https://mywebsite.tld/service2 but no link to our homepage, whereas most of our competitors' URL show up as https://theirdomain.tld for all keywords. What should I check/fix to make the homepage appear in SERPs? Does it influence our ranking? Perhaps we should just ignore it?

If you are using wordpress check to make sure you didn't click the option to hide from robots, otherwise check your robots.txt file or source code to see if it is marked to not be indexed.

Google does not follow robots.txt anymore.

Probably there is a chance that the content people actually want is to see isn't on homepage but on other pages that are getting traffic.Try interlinking of traffic getting posts to your homepage this can help in your case.

Thanks, I see your point but the website is quite old actually and all the pages including homepage have been indexed (at least appear in site: ourwebsite.tld)

Thanks, it seems this could be the case indeed. So it means we should put a link to service page on our homepage and vice versa? As far as I know this has been done already...

No, the website is definitely not new. All pages have been indexed by Google for years.

Could you please explain the latter in more detail? What does an authoritative link mean? There are multiple links pointing to the homepage on the page in question.
P.S. I just checked and it seems the homepage has 7036 backlinks whereas product page has only 12! backlinks. So I guess it's absolutely necessary to get it showing in SERPs for this kw.

You should check the quality of your links. Try to get link from authoritative site related to your niche. It has high value and increases trust of your site.
And keep updating your homepage with fresh content and check search intent of your keyword.

As I mentioned above, product page has very few backlinks pointing to it (some websites report 12 some 6 seoreview website even 2) and yet it appears in SERP instead of the homepage. Homepage has ~7k backlinks with much more authority. Any more ideas?

Forgot to mention: the product page's name (which shows up in SERPs instead of the homepage) 100% matches the keyword. Perhaps we should rename the product page?

Did you submit the website to Google Search console. That will help you find out all the keywords that ranking in the google.

In the google search console on the left side click "Performance" , don't forget to check Average CTR and Average position.

Ok found it, thanks. Nr1 keyword (by far) is the domain name without tld/company name. How can it help me to make the website's homepage appear in SERP instead of the product page?
