New Google Update January 2020

If low quality sites are taking the first spots after this update, it means that between thousands of things they're doing wrong, there's one thing they're doing right; that thing big G is looking for from this update.
However, this doesn't mean they will stay there forever. After the update starts to settle down, they will go back somewhere where they were before, maybe a bit higher.
If you lost rankings, you're doing wrong that exact thing G is asking for. If you think you have a "quality" site, you will regain most of your rankings soon.
That's how I see it.

There is a mix kind of reaction after this G Update 2020. Rankings of couple projects have gone up and for couple keywords have gone slightly down - But I am still positive here. There are always slight fluctuations in keywords rankings after every G Update.

Yes, I thought it cant get worse after 17th December, but holy shit...what are these guys doing? Its such a shit show.

Also what I am wondering is: Are these guys damaging themselves on purpose? Seems like some people sitting there and work have no idea what they are doing. Its like their algo and crawler is broken. Sad truth: 5 years ago it worked better than today. Its just beyond me how they can fuck up so heavily

This is how it should be, but unfortunately its not true. What I can see is: Spam, spun articles on high DA sites etc. are ranking in the Top 10, while REAL RELEVANT websites are nowhere or on page 6.

Totaly true, I see the same shit, some totaly spam sites take the place of the good one, it's nonsense...

has anyone tried adding a lot of new content on an affected site?
i have 220 articles in the niche of one my affected site
thinking is it worth to upload them to see what happens

i dont recommend this. your new content might be competing with your primary page that you want to rank for for your money keyword. anytime you have multiple pages competing for the same keyword, you will notice a negative impact on your serp.

i mean, would this idea help to remove the algo penalty - a lot of new content

Lost about 50% of traffic in 3 of my most importants website.
I really dont know what is google doing

I think its time to create a youtube channel to diversify my income

Call me crazy but I think they rolled this update back???

I'm seeing stuff like it was a week ago.

I think there's been some shifting within this update that is more compatible with a former algorithm. I've seen some sites go back to what they were in last september. So this update is still ongoing and there's more to come off it IMO.

We saw it too apparently. But this is not certainly a roll back. There is a huge change in user behavior too.

The guy got hit in June July, worked hard to recover and now he is right back where he was before. It does look like a rollback, I've seen more of those. As for user behavior, it doesn't change overnight, people lost a lot of traffic overnight on January 7th. People don't change behavior just like that unless google is somehow forcing them, that's a possibility too.

We are releasing a broad core algorithm update, as we do several times per year. It is called the January 2020 Core Update. Our guidance about such updates remains as we’ve covered before. Please see this blog post for more about that

I guessed our mod google webmaster stuff? Nvm, I don’t know all about our BHW Mod. And I think I should consider mod post as a post from google webmaster stuff.

Yes. I have been making changes over the last few months, but I always do. More content and improved interlinking have been the main things.

I've done the same. more content, more interlinking, cleaned up content.
