Hmm...

Windows was being installed. Computer restarted.

Now its on, but no screen. The light on monitor is yellow. I also see a flickering Red light on the computer where the power button is. Not sure if it was there before. Hm...

I restarted the computer, again no screen.

I turned it off and then on again. Now it works.

Okay false alarm earlier. Having a usb plugged in didnt cause the problem. RESTARTING the computer doesnt work, it wont start up. It only works if i turn it off and on again.

Weird. Any ideas why???

Now im on some blue screen.

There is a problem thats keeping us from getting your PC ready to use, but we think an update will help get things working again. It wants internet.

Ill plug in an ethernet cable. Lets see what happens...

I plugged in an ethernet cable, but it didnt work. So now i moved it to a different slot on the router its identifying...

Ok not sure what the problem is. Its stuck om identifying. Ill just choose "i dont have internet" and continue installing windows. Ill deal with this later.

1 problem - have an ethernet cable plugged in. First its identifying... for a while, then it tells me unidentified network.

2 problem - restarting the computer doesnt work. Whether by button or through windows, if i restart the computer is on but i get no monitor signal. It only works if i shut it down and turn it on again.

Either you have wrong configuration set for ethernet on router or you need to set it up in bios.

About the internet problem. I ran the troubleshooter and it tells me:

"Ethernet doesnt have a valid IP configuration"

I have 2 other computers connected to the router via ethernet, and 3 computer via wireless. So i know the router and internet is working.

So whats the problem?

Maybe too many connections on 1 router. It could also be set to not provide data in that slot.. Go to router page and check if its properly set.

Been putting it together all night. Its pretty much done. Just gotta deal with some final touches now, a few final issues.

Actually my old lap top has a dvd rom. Ill put it in and see if i can find any ethernet drivers, then put them on the usb and move to the PC and install.

If it fails... i have an external wireless card i use for one of my computers. Ill move it to the pc and if i get internet ill run windows updates, maybe that fixes it.

At the end of the day i want to run this PC with ethernet, not wireless

Yeah those laptop ethernet drivers wont do... Should run out of the box without instslling any drivers. Must be wrong config on your router (most probably).

I put the motherboard's CD in the lap top and found a LAN folder in the Drivers. I'm moving it to a USB, then I'll go put it on the PC and install them.... if I manage

Then we'll see if that does anything.

If not, I'll try with the external wireless that I have, see if I can get a connection, and if I can then run windows updates.

I'll report what happened...

So i tried installing the Lan drivers from the cd. I successfully installed them, but it did not fix the issue

So i connected my external Wifi card, and i got internet. Now im running windows updates.

In the meantime i connected the ethernet cable to the computer where i previously had my external wifi, and it has the same problem. It wont identify network.

@Visual Eagle you may be right. Maybe my router has a limit on how many ethernet cable connections it can live with. Fucking pussy router has 4 plugs for ethernet but can only handle 2.

I also tried the ethernet cable in another lap top i have, and ahain the same problem.

Ok now im almost sure the router wont take a 3rd ethernet connection.

The solution is to either go into router settings and open that up (if at all possible) or to buy another external wifi card. Im good either way.

Ill try the router route first.

Damn it... i think im beat.

I did some windows updates and then had to restart computer. But as i mentioned previously, restarting the computer doesnt work, so i had to then turn it off and on again.

But what that did is now every time i start the computer it tries to "repair" itself.

If i restart it it wont turn on. If i turn it off and on again it tries to repair itself, which ultimately leads to a restart.

Fuck...
