that just gossip ...i have one of those blogspot but i didnt maintenance them ,before nov 2019 usually i can get around 6k visitor..during middle of December traffic started to decreased around 10-15 percent but yesterday (14 jan ) it only get 129 visitor , same with my main website ..14 January/yesterday is when it hit real hard , the effect is like side wide match pinalty

Sure, but that's just one of thousands of ranking parasites. Maybe you keyword stuffed too much or something, there's some many variables as to why something de-ranks. In general looking at thousands of SERP results it looks like Blogspot got a boost, but I might be wrong.

Yesterday (14th January), I lost the 80% of the organic traffic (from 7ks to 1.2ks) of my recipes niche (Foreign country). All the content that I have was writted by myself, and I'm not using any spamming backlinks or so.

Almost all my 1-3 position keywords went to the end of page one or two.

what is the characteristic of the number 1 position in your niche?

for examples how many times the keyword is mentioned in title? description? <p> tags? <a> tags? H tags? keyword density?

that's why i wrote above that the effect is almost no different with getting hit by manual penalty , some of member in this thread even mention the traffic decreased till single digit...and i do believe him/her

1. Search BHW
2. Get what they do
3. Optimize yourself against them

So I've been struggling with the difference between the recommendations on BHW and the recommendations on Google. Google's basically stated you will be flagged and de-ranked for most of the stuff we're doing on BHW in their new TOS.

Always follow BHW recommendations.

Can only get better. 17th December updated killed up to 70% of my traffic. I guess this "core update" will just be a rollback. I don't think it can get any worse.

News & Sport is "High" on Semrush sensor I normally tend to find them two categories get hit first ... I tend to look forward to big updates

They release small updates all the time. But I think it's not common for big updates like last month's or the upcoming one.

Big ones happen 4 times a year, roughly one every quarter.

To be honest I see nothing wrong with the updates for fear of the wrath of BHW - I'm sick of spammy sites with copied content, poor site construct and 1990 style keyword stuffing (yep I still see this being attempted!) wiggling their way up Big G and knocking more deserving sites off their spots only for folk on here crying "why is my site losing rankings!!". These 'updates' are going to be more and more common.....so what!? I've gained positions, lost huge positions just like everyone else.......I keep working harder and smarter to retain the positions that I need to make $$$. I don't put all my eggs in one basket only for G to smash them all at once. Time is running out for short, sharp earnings - the machine is working harder and smarter every day and if you don't keep up then you're doomed to fail. Don't fight the fire....learn how to be the spark. That's my Monday moan out of the way!

Could this be the reason why the Google Search Console snippet with your data disappeared when googling keywords you're covering?

Search console always shows quirks about 15 days before an update. It's a tell-tale sign they're changing stuff.

Well if you lost rankings then it wasn't "improved" interlinking. Rethink your internal linking strategy.

Nah man, I read some threads on that webmasterforum and it's filled with "gold product experts" giving bullshit advice that's not helpful to anyone. I don't think Google is gonna help me on Twitter either. I'll just wait until this update finishes rolling out, maybe it'll improve. The search results are just bad in general imo, they can't stay like this. But who knows, it's Google after all, apparently they can do whatever the fuck they want and people will still use their search engine.

Same problem that I have. Some websites got hit from 500-600 visitors a day to 0, it seems manual penalty but I have no messages in GWT and all websites is correctly indexed

Position #1: Big site (Famous Magazine)

- 1.300 words post.
- Main keyword used in title.
- Main keyword used in description.
- Main keyword used 22 times.
- No significant use of synonymous of the main keyword.
- 5 H2 tags, where main keyword is used in 5 times.
- 23 H2 tags, where main keyword is used in 12 times.

Position #2: Looks like a spamming site. Multi topic (Apps (Whatsapp), games, Healthy, Geography, weight loss, religion).

- 6.000 words post.
- Main keyword used in title.
- Main synonymous keyword used in description.
- Main keyword used 77 times.
- Main synonymous keyword used 63 times.
- 45 H2 tags, where main keyword is used in 19 times, and synonymous keyword 10 times.
