Removing comments and shit, but what's worse, ad revenues are plummeting.

luckily, my stuff didnt get marked, neither did anyone else that makes similar content, but im paranoid about the FTC fining my ass, however unlikely since im not in the US, but in theory they got the ability to fine everyone on the planet since YT is an US platform.

This will happen if you mark your videos as for kids:

so do not mark them. Move out of the US if needed, and do not mark anything as for kids, you might as well jump off a bridge if you mark them.

It won't help. As all it takes is for someone to report all your channel as meant for kids and YT will take necessary action. Most advertisers have no interest to advertise to kids who won't spend anyway.

it all about money

I don't think this can be avoided while still keeping your stat and rev.

Dont blame COPPA, Youtube is just going under COPPA to filter out kids only channel to reduce ads.

Gay move is that they are killing the channels, there are alot kid ads.

That you don't have to be afraid of. FTC has zero jurisdiction outside the US, it's not law enforcement either. COPPA is a US law as well.

The "only" thing that could happen to you as a non-US resident is earning less/nothing.

We'll have to wait a bit since that might be a temporary "glitch" until they sort out the entire new process. It might recover in the next few days, maybe there will be a follow up post from that person.

Do you know if his views dropped as well or he's simply making less $ and view count stayed the same?

The 70% mark could be due to coppa changes but the drop from $300 to $160 is probably due to quarter one (advertisers resetting their budgets) which happens to most channels, including mine which is non kids content.

The gold age of Youtubers is over, yuotube will be just like cable TV with a small touch, for new fresh content creators better to try other way to expose your work to the world.

I feels bad for all this channel.

And the company cannot monetize their video anymore.

What's insane? Google introducing a new rule on their own site or investing that kind of money into something you don't have any control over whatsoever? People tend to forget one thing: social media accounts belong to the company, which owns the network. They can do whatever they want with it, it doesn't even have to be COPPA, a simple policy violation and the account can be gone for good.

It's like planting and growing a tree in someone else's garden and hoping that particular someone will be kind enough to still let you into the garden years later to harvest the fruits.

What if Google decides to shut down Youtube entirely from tomorrow? Unlikely, but it's in their power and no-one has any right to question their decision, because they're the owners.

This is 100% right. Doesn't matter whether its YouTube or any other social network, people & companies should never put all their eggs in one basket when it comes to Social media presence. When the going is good, things are amazing, but you can very easily go from $x,xxx or more per day to $0.

The lesson here is ALWAYS diversify when it comes to Internet Marketing.

It should have 3 version of content.

1. For kids under 13
2. For adult
3. For both (general audience)

But YouTube current restriction, the content creator only have 2 options, to mark their content as for kids or for adult.
