1 Local Website vs Multiple Websites for Local Business

Start with the first option.
You can rank for multiple services with the same site if you silo your site structure. I have a website the promotes 3 different services from the bay area south to San Diego. I rank for most cities in California for all 3 services. Once you build authority for one service it's easy to rank the others. This was all within the past year, but I was on page one for many areas by 4 months. About 3 months ago I built out the other 2 service and they are now on page one.

I also had a second site that ranked fairly well but I have not done anything with it in over a year while I worked on the other site. It fell from page one to page 3 or 4 on most keywords. I'm sure with a little work I can get both websites on page one.

Focus on one, it will save you a lot of work.
I know this is a little old, but how do you do this? Like actively go about ranking a local keyword? Content, NAPS? I

Hi all, I'm starting a new offline business in the new year and I'm just planning my local SEO strategy. It's a cleaning business.

I'm after advice from knowledgeable local SEO's.

Do you think its better to have 1 website and build up its domain authority to rank for everything (all exterior cleaning services) or have several highly targeted websites aimed at 1 particular cleaning service?
A guy posted last day about a competitor creating multiple landing pages and multiple GMB listings at different locations

The process is not that difficult. You need 2 things content about the type of business or product you are promoting and mention of the location. The other thing you will need is backlinks with the location in the anchor text. Keep in mind not to over optimize your anchors or overuse of keywords.

Say you are trying to rank for "Dry Cleaners in Detroit". You don't need to or want to keep using "Dry Cleaners in Detroit" as the keyword in your content or anchors. You should use keywords that would be used naturally within the content. Content will be on dry cleaning so you will use words that will be about dry cleaning and related services. You will need to mention the location you are trying to rank a few times within the content.

Anchors should be natural as well. Most should be branded and generic. But some should be keyword targeted and branded with location, like: " local Detroit dry cleaner", "Sally's Dry Cleaning - Detroit"

Embedding a Google map of the location, linking out to government and other local websites, helps as well.

Wow thank you so much for the in depth answer! So say I have a website and set up all my citations on local directories. Do I post that content on all those directories as well as a blog on my company website?

I ask my question in this thread instead of making a new one - is this viable method of pricing your local SEO sites:

I rank 1st for a keywords like "Cleaning 'insert city here' " - monthly visitors 300, average price for 1 hour of cleaning = 40$.

Let's say 10% of the traffic actually buys a cleaning service, so that's 1200$/month minimum to the company I'm promoting.

How much should I take from this?

First option is best. You can create 3-5 GMB's and target at one website. Traffic from all GMB's will reach to your website.

if u choose second option its mean your workload is just double ...... focus on first option with GMB
