Anyone else suffer from lack of work motivation?

Sometimes I get really great ideas in my head and then when I sit behind my desk....bleh!

This has become a problem for me, I can't get motivated to do anything...if anyone has any tips on how to get that work motivation feeling back, I'm all ears! (and eyes).

I'm currently reading "Deep Work" by Cal Newport...I can't even get motivated to read a book that supposed to help with working better!

For me, the best thing to do is to force myself to work. Usually the motivation comes by itself.

If you haven't made any money out of it it's hard to stay motivated i admit that , but if you have don't forget to treat your self after a successful transaction even with a 1$ gift for me it keeps me motivated

The only thing that keeps me motivated is looking at the endgame, when my goals will be accomplished.

So I’m looking at the period of between right now and when I’m reaching my destination as the hard work that needs to be in place in order to achieve my goals.

So I’m fine with that, and the path will actually make the destination even sweeter, because I need to do what ever it takes to get there.

Good luck op, always think ahead!

Willpower is quite a limited resource in our minds. You need to create small habits. There are several videos available online. Please check them out and figure out how you can do certain tasks without having to motivate yourself ever. I also created a thread regarding this and you can check it out here: –

I don't really think the direct problem is motivation for work tbh.

You probably have some other problems IRL like a non-existent social life a family problem or something else closely related with those 2.

So this makes you have no fuel to be working and smashing your goals as you don't know how your life will change if you complete your tasks/projects.

I know it's hard finding the motivation in this situation, I've struggled with this myself and I know a lot of people who do.

The best thing to do is try to set a fixed routine for working. Besides that, you should be working and fixing that problem that you have IRL so you can get the fuel that is missing from your body.

For example, I managed to get out of this crisis mode, by knowing that if I complete my goals for this year, how much my life in overall will be improved from the current state that I am.

Also make sure to check if your ADHD positive as that can be an issue as well.

For youtube, I suggest checking Jordan Peterson. He has some really great ideas worth checking out.

motivation is cringe, discipline is real. just do what you have to do what ever is your state of mind

I had the same before for nearly 10 years, There is a possibility you may have ADHD ( attention deficit hyperactivity disorder),

After i started taking medication ( Ritalin 10mg ) , now i have so much motivation even when i don't take the medication. When i get an idea, i just start it from whatever the resources i have, if i don't have resources in hand, i will keep a note in my online note pad app and make sure to follow up it when i have the enough resources.

Set goals (preferably multiple) and check them off as you go

You're building a website up? Try to make sure that you're doing at least one SEO-related activity every single day - make it a goal to tweet at least one promo, or something of that nature

The little goals will add up over time and you'll notice that you are making progress.. at least, that's what I tend to do!
